There are a few ways to answer this question.
Let me start one way. There is a difference between being prejudiced, and discriminating based on that prejudice.
The first step, I would say is to try to be conscious of how you treat people, personally and professionally. You do not have to like everyone. Noone out there likes EVERYONE. Some people don't like others because of their skin color or ethnicity, this is what people call being "racist". However, if you never let those feelings and beliefs effect how you treat someone, then it really doesn't matter what you really think of them, does it?
On the other hand, I personally believe that racism has a deeper cause than that. I personally believe that racism stems from either a straight out disbelief in god, or from an incomplete or faulty understanding of God, in addition to a complete ignorance of some basic scientific concepts.
God made us all as we are. No, we are not equal we are different. But that does not mean some are better than others based on race. the difference is a good thing.
In science, there is a thing called "hybrid vigor". In short, a Mutt will be stronger/smarter/better for the survival of the species in general than a pure-bred.
You can see this in dogs. Most of the pure breeds have a very long list of genetic traits that cause health problems. These problems, if they were in nature, would cause those pure breeds to die out.
In general, it goes that if you take one group and inbreed, over time, the bad traits always come out (this is the scientific reason why incest is illegal, because most of the time the children will have bad health problems) but if you cross breed with different breeds, the good traits have a tendency to come out.
So, this is scientific proof that any one "race" of humans can't be "better" than others. Mixed breeds, however, on average, can be.
As an aside, however. Many people claim someone is racist if they are actually culturist.
Many white people do not like the inner city culture. some of them even think this means they are racist against blacks, but that is wrong. It's the culture they do not like, there are hundreds of black cultures around the world that have nothing to do with the inner city rap culture.
I don't see anything wrong with being prejudiced on the basis of culture.
There are cultures out there who kill their babies. I don't like that, and I don't like people who do that. That doesn't make me racist, however.

r u racist or are u prejudice? racist people hate and sometimes kill a person because of their skin color. on the other hand there is prejudice; it means to prejudge someone or categorize someone mainly because of stereotypes. it is not just the color of the skin. it could be hair color(blondes have more fun) , the size and shape of a person, the height of a person etc... we all are prejudice because we all prejudge. ex... if you go to a buffet and see a fat person eating a lot of food, your thought may be.... "why are they eating so much?don't they realize what got them there in the first place?" but do we really know the story? maybe they have a thyroid problem; maybe they were on a fast for 30 days and want to enjoy their favorite foods after the fast. prejudice is about not knowing all facts and basing evidence on stereotypes. a lot of people think asians are very smart or can do a good job on manicures or pedicuresor know some type of martial arts/ a lot of people think that all blacks should know how to cornrow or frenchbraid hair, etc.... catch my drift?
U are taking the first step. u know u have a problem and want to fix it. from the sound of it, it doesn't appear that you are racist, just prejudice(a lot of people will deny that they are prejudice because they think that it deals with race. we all are prejudice. some more extreme than others.) you can get better at your problem by realizing that the thoughts are in your head because of preconceived notions or stereotypes and know that 1 person doesn't represent the whole group of fat people, skinny people, black, white, asian etc....
u will be alright.

I assume by asking the question you want to change and that's the first big step!
The question is "How can I stop feeling that I'm better than others'?
The statement "except for the grace of God, there go I" had a profound impact on me at a young age.
I had nothing to do with being who I am or not being another person. When I internalized this information it changed my heart.
The Bible says "don't think of yourself more highly than you ought" and to put others in a higher place than yourself.
I hope this is food for thought.
Good luck!

...by remembering nobody made themselves and everyone has the right to feel comfortable in their own skin without ignorant people like you putting them down.
It is on what is on the INSIDE of a man that counts not his race that counts.
There is a judgement day where every man will be accountable to God for his actions.
If only one race was created to live on this earth it would be an incredibly boring place. No holidays, no variety of dishes....I hate to imagine.
Oh you got it so wrong,- no we ARE equal just different NOT the other way round AND THAT IS THE ROOT of your ignorance and misplaced thinking right there.

Being more open to learning the everyone regardless of race, class, gender or any other differences has something to offer. I like to celebrate our differences, its like eating macaroni everyday...after a while its gets boring so why not switch it up...differences are what makes people unique and life more interesting I think.

Try to understand why you have taken to the sterotypes out there. Do you feel better when you clump people into ethnic or racial groups? Have you experienced negative interactions witha group? Try to understand why you do what you do then Stop it!

Well, it is common sense. We are all humans and the Lord created us all equally. No one is better than anyone else solely because of skin color or ethnicity.
