Actually, in the beginning, I did not know you could do that! LOL I stumbled over the answers given one day and yes I read them. I did it again and decided that it took all the fun out of answering, for me! Besides, I like thinking for myself and I do not do this because at times, I felt as though I was swayed by others answers!
So, yes, I have and no, I don't do it now...my preference.

I sometimes do, when commenting on medical questions I will comment on a answer that's harmful, there are some that are armchair doctors, have never opened a book and will make a concise diagnosis that needs correcting and, I wouldn't want anyone taking advice that's harmful, Let the chips fall where they may.
I've had four years of medical training at three Universities and have worked in a large med facility for two years and, a hospital. Although I am not medically qualified and do not pretend to be, I can see when someone may be harmed by the advice given and can correct it with "see your doctor first"
Isn't that the reasom we're here? to help?

I answer the question first and then go back and read the other answers. It's fun to see how people think and also see how many others think like you.
When I first signed on to Y! answers I would look at the first few, trying to make sure I did not repeat other answers. After a while I realized it doesn't really matter the question was posted for anyone with knowledge on the subject to answer.

i usually read them 1st, mostly to make sure that i don't repeat the same thing as everyone else
