If they are a resident they can get a placard that serves as a temporary Resident Parking Permit. You just put that on your dashboard and you are safe.

You will be in the Labor Day Shuffle. Three people should help: one person to move the things back and forth from the car, a second to watch the things on the sidewalk, and the third to keep circling the car.

The first answerer's suggestion to get the placard is a great one, but even with that be advised that parking spots will be in a huge demand this weekend and all through the week. As the Boy Scouts would say, be prepared.

Well you can get a visitor permit, but if you are there without anything even for a few minutes they can give you a ticket, which will be really expensive, before they tow it.
