No one is doing this to me.
It's a scenario that I wondered how people handled. :)

Cut yourself off from the people harboring you.

You simply cannot allow others to hold you back, and that can be difficult. The path you walk in life is created by you. It's difficult to tell others that you aren't going to be their puppet. The only way you can become the person you want to be is to believe in you, and you alone.

When I was 36, I returned to college. I had worked as a waitress and at other minimum wage jobs for 18 years. I was amazed at the responses I got from my friends and co-workers! I cannot tell you how many times I heard, "You'll fall flat on your face!", or "You are only kidding yourself...you'll never make it!"

But I didn't want the life I had. I figured if these people were truly my friends, they would have been supporting me in my decision. It has been 17 years since I graduated and I have been the recipient of some pretty awesome awards for my work with at-risk and disadvantaged teens as an English teacher in alternative programs. And do you know, I can't think of the names of very many of my "friends" back in the day when I started my college education! Not only that, but I had 5 kids at home and I still graduated with honors!

You can do anything you set your sights on! Whether or not you obtain your goal is up to you and you alone! I truly wish you the best in your endeavors! Go for the best life has to offer because you, my precious one, deserve it! Have a safe and glorious weekend! Annie

If someone were to try and hold me back from anything, I'd drop kick them outa my life real quick and they would no longer be a problem in any way; including holding me back from becoming the person I want to be.
So far so good about being who I wanna be anyway. =)

People can only hold you back if you let them. People can only do to us what we allow them to do, because by not telling them to stop & trying to leave the situation, that's just like writing them a permission slip to keep doing it. So, with that being said, free yourself!!

People holding you back is just a way of determining the extent of your abilities to overcome problems and teaches you how to get beyond them.

Later Daze! =)

Get rid of them and start anew. Sometimes you have to be ruthless. It's not easy to edit people out of your life, but it can be done. It's worth the effort if they are impeding your progress.

You have to put yourself first in this case and not to let anyone hold you back.

Adapt, improvise, overcome. No one does anything to a person without their permission.
