It does sound like an early miscarriage, however some women have spotting throughout their pregnancy and still go on to have a healthy baby. The only way to know for sure is to go to the dr and get a series of quantative hcg. A regular pregnancy test only measures whether you have hcg in your system, the quatitative test tells you how much. Basically its supposed to double every 48-72 hours. So if you go get a test today and then in 48 hours the number has gone down you know its a miscarriage. If the numbers are going up as they should you can rest a little easier. Try to get into the dr today or at the very latest tomorrow morning. Stay off your feet and drink lots of water in the meantime. Good luck and I hope you're alright!

A 'chemical pregnancy'

A very early miscarriage is sometimes referred to as a 'chemical pregnancy'. This is when the pregnancy is confirmed by a very early pregnancy test (before the next period is due or around the time it is due), but 2 - 3 days later a period starts. A urine pregnancy test will often be 'faintly' positive, but a blood test (if one is done) normally shows low HCG levels, which don't increase over time. Without testing, most women are not aware they were briefly pregnant, because there are no obvious physical signs of pregnancy and nothing can be seen on ultrasound.

Early miscarriages such as these are thought to occur when the egg is fertilised, but dies soon after implantation. These are thought to be fairly common, probably involving up to 30-40% of all pregnancies. The bleeding experienced often resembles a heavier menstrual period, perhaps with some small blood clots, and possibly some cramping.

Emotions-A very early miscarriage is often detected by women trying to conceive, because they are doing very early pregnancy tests. A positive test result can bring great joy and excitement, only leading to upset, disappointment and confusion once the bleeding starts a few days later. This can feel like you are on a 'roller coaster' of emotions in a very short space of time that can be very draining. Take time to be with your feelings, as this loss is very real and needs to be acknowledged.

it might have been....u should go to the doctor and get a blood test done. if it was a miscarriage, they will need to clean u out.

Symptoms of a miscarriage include:

Vaginal bleeding that may be light or heavy, constant or irregular. Although bleeding is often the first sign of a miscarriage, first-trimester bleeding may also occur with a normal pregnancy. Bleeding with pain, however, is a sign that miscarriage is more likely.3
Pain. You may have pelvic cramps, abdominal pain, or a persistent, dull ache in your lower back. Pain may start a few hours to several days after bleeding has begun.
Blood clots or grayish (fetal) tissue passing from the vagina.
It is not always easy to tell whether a miscarriage is taking place. A miscarriage often does not occur as a single event but as a chain of events over several days. One woman's physical experience of a miscarriage can be very different from another woman's experience.

im very sorry for ur loss (if it was indeed a miscarraige)

the good thing about modern pregnancy tests is you can find out really early ...like you said days before you even miss your period... the sad thing is almost 1/3 of pregnancies miscarry before 12 weeks , a number that seems to be on the rise but only because women are becomeing aware much sooner due to more sensitives pregnancy tests. going to your ob/gyn or emergency room right away is really not nesscasary there is nothing they can do to stop it at this point , but you should make an appointment so they can make sure you passed everything, if not is could cause infection and other problems, if you didn't they will give you a med. that will make you cramp and exspel anything that is left. that is all that is needed in an early pregnancy a D/C ( where they manually scrape off the lining of the uterus isn't needed)
However don't fear for the worst, which is what I just told you!!! women can have periods and still have a healthy pregnancy it's just your body isn't producing enough hormones to stop your monthly cycle yet. after I misscarried in 2000 I became pregnant in July of 2002 but didn't find out until October and only them becasue I had a UTI and went to my ob for a UTI test and treatment. boy was I shocked ... my periods had been regular and very normal in july, august and sept. if I would have known I was pregnant in august I would have thought I misscarried for sure. so there is still hope for you I hope it all works out for you

The problem probably is that your body wasnt able to keep the baby. Maybe the embryo wasn't healthy enough. Maybe the birth control test was a false positive (they are only 99% accurate for positive and negative results).
Or maybe this is pregnancy related spotting (I dont think so).

Try to think of the positive pregnancy test as your body almost getting pregnant. The term miscarriage is almost misleading- most, almost half of (potential) pregnancies dont get past this point, usually without the (potential) mother knowing. most women would have just thought they miscalculated the day of their first period.

It probably doesnt mean anything- but schedule an appointment with your doc as soon as possible to talk about things.

Try to get pregnant again- its fun!
good luck

if your not cramping or having any tissue discharge.
then you might just be having a period.
its completely normal to have some bleeding in the first trimester. BUT it could signal somthing more serious.
call the doctors office, if its pass hours call the on call doctor there and let them know what is happening and they will give you the advice you need.
if you can't get a hold of anyone there call up to labor and delivery at your hospital they can give you some advice too.
good luck.

There is no way for us to tell what happened. You need to go to a doctor to find out and if you did or did not have a miscarriage, you still need to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Your pregnancy test could have been wrong and it could be that you're on your period because miscarriages are really painful. You should go see your doctor asap!

Yes, it is likely you have had a miscarriage. HPTs are 99% aaccurate when they give a positive reading.

You can see the reason why it is not advisable to take a test that early before your period... many, many women are pregnant and have a miscarriage before they even know. Sometimes it's better to not even know you are pregnant that early on. I am sorry for your loss. Please don't give up.. it will happen :)

I hope for you that all is well, and I would give you a hug if I could. Good Luck!
