i have the same hour glass figure as you.i dont believe you should limit your self to any single brand... enjoy all of them by following these basic rules..
look for the cut and fit.
A 'low waste/low rise' jeans will sit pefectly on ur hips and 'boot cut' from below will balance the heavy hips making them look less prominent, strech material is prefered as it hugs the figure and gives a perfect sexy fit .. this way you can wear any brand just follow the cut and fit guide line.
her is an example.

I have the same exact issue. lol. I can't even wear skinny jeans...... =/ People think I'm like a size 0 but they'd be shocked to find out I'm a size 9 because of my hips and butt.. =)
I would suggest finding BOOT CUT jeans. They're the best. As for brans? I think Angel's...... and ugh... I can't remember. lol. DKNY is a good company too.
I get my jeans from Hecht's, Macy's, and Bob's. All the other stores that sell jeans SUCK and don't WORK with my figure... =)
Oh! and Old Navy and Gap have some nice jeans!
So.. good luck! Keep on trying those jeans... ;)

Babyphat jeans by Kimmora Lee Simmons are really good. Also Beyonce's new line of House od Dereon Jeans are great...she too has an hour glass figure. Another brand is Applebottom jeans. For hour glass figures, you really need to go with Urban Wear. Most minorities tend to have the shapes...Place like Express,Old Navy, Gap, Goody's won't really have the comfortable fit that you desire because their bodies aren't made up like hour glasses often.....RoccaWear is good Too!!!! Good Luck!

Low rise jeans. I like the Gap or Old Navy. Land's End is also a great brand and you can custom the jeans to your figure. I'm shorter than you so I take my pants to get them hemmed. Shop at outlet stores and during sales for the best deals. And no skinny jeans...they are just not made for us. Good luck!

Don't know where you live, but Nordstrom has their own line called "Caslon" and they are great. Fit my hips and thighs without flattening out my butt (usually a problem, too!). Also, Angels. I wasn't familiar with this brand but I bought a pair for the first time at Macy's and they fit great. I didn't find BabyPhat fit well. Flattened out my butt. Oh, and get stretch jeans for better fit.

I am the same height with the same problem. I love Lucky Jeans and Guess jeans. Try a bit lower rise. A high rise makes for a "swimmy" waist.
Also, buy less expensive jeans and splurge on a tailor. It's worth it!

You can always have your jeans altered for like 5 dollars at a dry cleaners. That way if you find jeans your really like but they dont fit you well at the hips and waiste take them and they will make them smaller and to fit you.

Hmmm....i'm undecided how delicate it would be to positioned on denims an inch or 2 below the tummy line? yet, do you have an Addition Elle the place you're? whilst i became an 18-20 i offered my denims there...they have been the stretchy type and that they have got been VERY delicate. They have been like $70 a pair although yet nicely truly truly worth the money. i'm a 14/15 now and have 2 pairs in my closet that I particularly wore in a length 20. :(

My gf has the same body type you do, even about the same height. I buy clothes for her once in a while so try the brands hydraulic, apple bottoms, and bubble gum. But becareful cause they're really expensive. You can find them at Macy's. If you're looking for cheaper ones, you might be able to ones that are right for you in TJ maxx or marshalls. Good luck.

i would just try on jeans of different brands, this may take a while. i am built like you and loved 501's but not the extra material around the waist! for me i found chic jeans fit well, but i'm cheap and don't want to pay a lot for them. my daughter usually buys hers in the ladies dept and wal-mart and they seem to fit fine.
also check oprah's site. she did a thing on jeans and bodies here a while back.
