being a white male in America still means you've pretty much got it made. America is still a very racist society

First let me say that I applaud your question, because it's one that I'm sure has crossed several minds before. I find DarcyMC's answer to be overtly ignorant, however, and am not the least shocked to hear blatant stereotyping and racial remarks being posted about such an innocently asked question. Shame on ignorence.
I am white (but only in skin color, as I'm a nice mix of many nationalities). It always bothered me that there are such things like BET, Ms. Black America, The Black Chronicles/Newspapers, etc.. and one day I asked some friends of mine what they thought about my opinion that these things were biased and unfair. They said that they are underrepresented in the media and asked me to name all the tv shows that where strictly minority. It opened my eyes a little as to how they view life on an everyday basis. Until you walk with the eyes of another, you never truely see what they're seeing. Keep you chin up, because I know at times it seems as if your being punished for your forefather's actions, eventhough that's simply not the case. Just because society is focusing attention on a specific race in this era, doesn't mean that it's taking away the respect given to another. I look forward to the day when all the world can truely look towards a person's heart, instead of skin color. Try spending a few hours at a local homeless shelter or giving back to the community. Instead of pondering WHY society turned from you, lead by setting a good example and showing that EVERYONE is the same but should be respected as an idividual.

There is no need to capitalize the word "white" when combining it with the word America. Anyways what do you want to speak up about, besides the fact that you are feeling left out? Do you have some concerns or an injustice that you think needs addressed for white American males? Oh and a white male with no social standing and/or no money does have a specialty group they are called "rednecks" and your leader is Ted Nugent. Congrats!

What are your issues? Why do you need someone to stand-up for you. If you want to band together, then band together. If you tip toe around and defer to what is considered politically correct and you choose to speak only if it is not going to be looked at negatively, then are you not agreeing with the principles of political correctness. Last time I checked, we still live in a country where you have the right to say whatever you want. If they call you a racist and you know you are not a racist, don't give power to their accusations by changing your position or letting their derision anger you.

There's no need for 'whites' to band together to advance thier agenda. By the same token, there's no further need for 'black' or 'brown' or 'yellow' people to do so, either.
As Bruce J points out, you are being punished for the sins of your ancestors, you are being judged not by who you are, but by who they were. The argument, 40 years ago, was that we /needed/ such 'reverse' discrimination to redress the wrongs of past discrimination. IMHO opinion, that argument was wrong 40 years ago. Even if it was justifiable then, it's outlived it's usefulness, now.
It's time for Americans to be Americans, and for the arbitrary 'races' to be relegated to the history books.

What are you talking about. You never been to an Irish American bash or and Italian American party, I have and I'm not white. You need to get out of your moms basement and experience life kid.

Poor james, you must really have it rough. Why, I bet you'd trade places with the average black man in a second, right? After all, they must have it easy, what with Rev Sharpton on their side and all.

Let me tell you first. I am Latino but I agree with your question and comments. Let me start first that when a black person says something racist against white people people don't give a damn about it. When minorities say something racist the nation don't give a damn about it but when only one white person says something racist the whole nation comes into panic saying "His/she is racist!" Now white people have loose their privilige of being white and i agree. Now when other folks tell you that you are racist just tell them "Isn't everyone equal then?". Well this is my answer

It's not wrong to speak out for yourself. People want to intimidate us to keep us from taking up for ourselves. they are using it as a tool of war. The political machine uses it to make political hay with. Start screaming buddy, you're wayyy behind, help your own people by speaking up and out! No matter what race, America belongs to American Citizens! NOT foreign countries....Kick btt!
