I've been doing for so long, it's kinda like putting on a pair of socks...that is I take what I know for granted.. it's a long road my friend, so I hope this little piece will help some

Go to intel or AMD dot coms, they have developments forums pressreleases on anything. Probably just type in motherboard as a keyword. Stay with sites like Abit, Asys or Gigibyte Ithink that how you spell it read about their boards, come back with some more questions, I catch it, I'll answer, or some one else will. Talk to people it's an osmotic condition of learning.

I hope thats a start for you

If you don't know much about components, maybe don't build a computer. You can throw a bunch of money around if you don't know what you are doing. If you want to learn a lot about components, I would go to a BestBuy. Ask them to teach you about the components. It is very easy to learn from them.

The first site I'd send you to is tomshardware.com they have a how-to and on that page you will a step by step on how build yourself a computer.

Not sure it makes a whole lot of sense any more with as cheap as pcs can be, I used to build all of my own, just don't save money doing it yourself any more.

I've linked tom's page.

The folks at Newegg.com are the best place to buy the parts you need. Good quality products, good support, and much of the modern computer can be plug and go.

get a copy of a really good book called The Hardware Bible by Winn L. Rosch.

even an older edition is useful.

Instead of a site, look for the book "Computers for dummies", it is very helpful. And can be used over and over again.

you won't regret it.
