Ok girls, i am 16, and i am wondering about brown liquid. There is this strange brown liquid coming out of my vagina as if it was blood or discharge from my menstral cycle. But i dont think its blood because it doesnt have any red in it at all. It kind of looks like hershey's chocolate syrup actually. It has been coming out more than i have had regular discharge for like, 2 months now. But it sure does stain my underwear just like blood. I dont think its old blood, because i have had that before and its nothing like that. Oh boy! Do any of you know what this brown thick liquid is???

Hi Sweetie,
To refrain from r panties stain, wear Panty Liners & carry them with u in r handbag in some ziplock plastic bag 4 sanitary reasons
And I believe u have a Yeast Infection may-
be r 1st, but not r last. Every woman/teen get them. 2 months ago I had 1 & asked Dr.
why & he couldn't give me an answer as no-
body knows why? Just another GIFT to add
onto our periods!!! If u have't spoke 2 r Mom, I advize u do, as she's had her own 2
deal with & don't comprehend why Mom's don't add this on 2 the "Birds & Bees" talk? It is a crucial part of it. I had 1 girl tell me she's had it for 5 yrs. It inferiates me, but I'm glad after 2 month's u did the right thing!
If U don't ask, how will U ever know? At times the discharge can have a lingering odour 2 it, but there r many ways to take care of it. eg. Vaginal Powder on r Light Day, Vaginal Sprays, etc u choose what's right 4 U. Plse don't forget Light Days, better known as Panty Liners u'll save on panties & often used just 4 r problem. Well I guess u have a Dr. to see & shopping too..
All The Best Of Luck 2 U, hope I helped U?

I most likely IS blood, since menstrual blood -- even in between periods -- can range in color from light pink to nearly black. The dark brownish color you're describing is pretty common. However if it's occurring for more than a day or two in mid-cycle (between periods), then it might be something to discuss with your doctor.

As for the stains, try wearing white underwear (cotton is best) and buy some Clorox Bleach Pens....they work WONDERS on all sorts of stains...especially if the stain is not allowed to sit more than a few hours. Just dab, rub the material vigorously and rinse with water; set aside to dry till laundry day.

Well I think it is old blood, I don't look unique from everyone else bbecause we are all saying it. Put a piece or two of toilet paper a little way up your vagina when you know the brown stuff is coming out. Then after a couple of mins, check it. Is it fresh blood? Or is it still genuinely brown like you saw before? After this, if your still unsure just go see a specialist, they see all sorts- Im sure it's nothing! Good luck! xXx

Blood when its been exposed to oxygen for a long period of time turns brown. A constant discharge of this indicates some kind of infection though. Make an appointment with an OBGYN about this, and for now, keep clean but don't douche. That will push the bacteria or whatever it is further up in your body.

Best of luck!

That 'brown thick liquid' is OLD BLOOD ... and if you have had this 'discharge' for the past two months regularly then you need to see a doctor ASAP ... for a 'full examination' including a 'pelvic exam' ... go as soon as you can make the appointment ... and do what the doctor tells you to do.

Brown, thick liquid vaginal discharge is not normal. Your body is trying to tell you something. If you use tampons, did you forget to take one out? Your health professional can examine you and remove it if you cannot.

If you are feeling unwell, feverish, sweating, feeling discomfort and the discharge is smelly you may have an infection. Your health professional can help. You may need to have a lab test, antibiotics and some sexual health teaching. Even if the brown discharge stops, you may still have the infection. It is important to get checked out because an infection of your reproductive system can interfere with you getting pregnant later in life.

When I was about your age I had an infection that I thought was gross and put off seeing my doctor.

My doctor told me that if he had to see a patient with her arm ripped off; that would be gross. I was instructed to hop up on the table to be examined.

Once we have the right medication; symptoms clear up quite quickly.

It looks like we all agree... see your doctor. A women's health clinic may help if you cannot see the doctor.

If it is not blood from your period, you are seriously pregnant,

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

Good luck!

Actually, it really does sound like "old blood". Blood exposed to air turns brown. You're having bleeding from some location. If this has been going on for so long, you need to see your doctor.

dead blood cells. blood has hemoglobin in it and looks red qhen it contain oxygen, but after they die they can no longer contain oxygen. BTW, they blood you see going back through your veins is that color, it only looks blue because the skin covering it makes it look like that. It's actually darker.

The ones you've seen before that were brown or rust color were probably some dead blood cells mixed with some live ones, and these are all dead. old blood
