There is, or was, a book called "The Ghostly Register." If you can find it, either in the bookstore or the library, get it. The book is all about haunted locations in each state, with a history of the haunt and if the location is open to the public or not. It should give you an idea of places in NJ to look into.

Edit: Ok, I did something I couldn't do when I originally posted this. And that's get my copy of "The Ghostly Register." However, it's now over twenty years old and I don't know if more recent publications (if it is still in print) have anything updated. I still suggest getting the book, but here's what was listed for NJ twenty-one years ago.

A victorian mansion at 15 Franklin Street, Midland Park, NJ. At the time you were advised to contact James and Anita Ford, the owners of the house. It was supposed to be haunted by several different ghosts, the most common was apparently that of a cat. Before the Ford's owned the house, one Ethelyn Woodlock did and she conducted tours of the place while she owned it. Supposedly many in the state were said to have witnessed the activity and the best time for activity was anytime during the day or night.

The second one listed was The Society Hill Restaurant on 217 South Street, Morristown, NJ. It's not supposed to be haunted anymore according to one of the folks submitting the data on the place as an exorcism was preformed. Being a restaurant, unless you don't meet their dress code I imagine you could still get in.

As my copy is now twenty-one years old, I don't know if either of these places still exsists or if anything has changed for them (the restaurant article sighted the fact that they stopped having a oujia board night as another reason for no more activity, but things could have changed since the exorcism).
