Hi,

To answer this question, remember this rule
--------------------------------------
(a+b) * (a-b) = a² - b²
a² - b² = (a+b) * (a-b)
--------------------------------------

Therefore,

(3-2 √7)(3+2 √7)
= 3² - (2√7)²
= 9 - 28
= -19

Answer: -19

Hope this helps

Kind regard,
Ryonn

(x-y)(x+y) = x^2 - y^2

(3-2 √7)(3+2 √7) =

3^2 - (2√7)^2 =

9 - (4* 7) =

9 - 28 =

- 19

Mr. Math Contributor is right. It's what's known as the "difference of two squares".

(a + b) (a - b) = (a squared) + (b squared)

In this case, a = 3 and b = 2 * (sqrt 7)

(3-2v7) (3+2v7)
Use FOIL method
9 + 6v7 + -6v7 + -4*7
add like terms
9 + -28
so the answer is
-19

(I do not have a sq root sign so I used v)
