The violence in Afghanistan is threatening the government's ability to maintain order. Indeed, the country is soaring out of control. The war on terror and the attacks against the Taliban have created undeniable turmoil. The Middle East is Anti-American, so despite our efforts to rebuild the region, the resistance of the Middle Easterners will still occur.

Afghanistan could have been the democracy in the Middle East that the Bush Administration envisioned. At a fraction of the cost. And with worldwide support.
If I remember correctly, the Afghans were cheering for US troops and receptive to change.

Even Alexander couldn't keep this one down...the Brits couldn't, the russians couldn't and several other attempts over the last several thousand years didn't exactly work out. If we're in Afganistan at all it should only be where bin laden may be...do we really care about all that other space or whether they have a 'democracy'? This is a classic example of 'a bridge too far'....or biting off more than you can chew. It's still not too late.

Bush rushed into this war without enough troops on the ground to "find, capture or kill" Osama bin laden. He left it up to the local tribal chieftains, who gently walked bin laden out of Tora Bora into cozy residence where he could make Al Quada stronger than it had ever been. This is why you are seeing the resurgence of the Taliban. They are being supported by the only one that mattered, and the "one that got away".

Mainly, it's because you Democrats continue to encourage these murderous factions by continually proclaiming that the war is lost and that America stinks. Do you not have a single ounce of patriotism left in you? You guys encourage this behavior due to your BDS. Get over it, Gore lost.

Short answer, yes. Imagine what we could have done if we had concentrated the power we have in Iraq over in Afghanistan.
