ok I had this really miserable teacher last semester...I mean they were a nice "person" but a bad teacher, always late, annoyed w/ students if you didn't get the subject right away, etc.. And unfortunately I found out today that i'm STUCK with the same person. They teach the only section of the class that I need that is being offered. Its also not offered next semester (and i'm scheduled to graduate so I can't wait another year). Any ideas???

I agree with the Generalist's opinion. Professors have to deal with a TON of students, many who really aren't there to learn..just merely to pass the class and move on to the next subject. I'm sure this is aggravating. Many are giving information that will be of great assistance to the NEXT student, but isn't really beneficial to you right now. It may seem crazy, but try to schedule an appointment with your professor and calmly express your angst. Don't attack, but bring it back upon yourself. Let them know that you think they are an awesome person, but that some of their actions scare the students into not being able to perform to the best of their ability. I once had a professor who continued to embarass me in front of the class. On this particular day, however, it was just too much. I told him that I come to his class to learn and didn't appreciate being belittled when I asked a question that I'm sure other students were to afraid to ask. It was as if he became a different person! Remember that they are people, too, with their own issues and sometimes they forget that we're all on the same side. If that doesn't sound feasible to you, or the professor baulks at your request, your hands are tied. Talk to the dean. Good luck!

My Professor Sucks

I agree, I don't think there is much you can do under the circumstances. You can always plan to give the professor a really awful review at the end of the semester but other than that I would be careful about doing anything to jeopardize your relationship with the professor or the professor's opinion of you.

It's a crappy situation. Good luck.

Make the best of it. I've heard of a lot of teachers that give horrible lectures but are really good when you visit them one on one. It's painful sometimes to have to listen to something really boring, but you will get through it. Everyone has a few bad teachers that they have to deal with. I've got so many this semester!! It's frustrating.

Normally the answer is to drop the class. In your case, since that's not an option, you just have to deal with it and move on. It won't do you any good to enter into an adversarial relationship so all you can do is adjust as best you can and get it over with.

Be sure to make comments on the evaluation about him/her or the next generation of students will be stuck too.

Chances are that you are way too smart and acerbic to heed what I am going to write, but since it comes from my successful experience with difficult, yet critical people, I will write it anyway.
Try seeing the situation through his eyes. The only way to do that is to ask him questions without judgment. It sounds simple and works wonders. If you repeat this process, you will become the smartest and most important person in your environment, at least as most of the others in your environment are concerned. Very few people do this, and they become leaders because people want to be around them and seek their approval.

Wish my professor would suck. I would giver her a tip!! Oh, you meant that way.
I completely understand what you are saying. Professors like that should either find a new line of work, or get fired. We do not pay good money for an education to be treated like dirt.
You might just have to suck this one up since it's not offered by a different professor or next semester.

It sucks, but you are in a situation where you don't have any options. I think you should finish the class, but after you receive your grade go to the dean and discuss your issue. It doesn't benefit you, but it may help other students

I agree with Jacklyn. You are stuck. You will have to suck it up and do the best you can to get through the term with this teacher...or else try to find it at another school that offers it through distance education.
