The bay tree (lauris noblis) can be cultivated almost any where in the south.

I have one near Charlotte.... and this was the first year it bloomed!!... (warm winter, I guess).... they do better a little more south of me, but mine is kept warm sitting beside a heated greenhouse, so I think that helps.....
