We get out fear of crime from the media. Sometimes the media and the public go hand-in-hand as one fuels the other of hideous crimes, and they play on our fears.

The fear of being forced into a compromising frame of thinking which may at times cause a person to overlook an important moment for decisions which do guide the fate of life. Not knowing that you really can say no to those thoughts that lead to a crime as a solution. The power of " NO" is quite amazing when you use it for good reason. So my answer would be; from experience, saying no when that choice comes knocking at the community door has been an important discovery, that i like sharing every time the opportunity comes. Some forms of media give an impression that crime is ok and the cost is romantic. a big fat lie. There are many songs written and money made for writers who know that cost, they win big on your loss, hear them singing all the way to the bank. Thanks!

In my case, from being kidnapped at gun point. I was taken up in a California hotel, and made to jump out the window. Needless to say, I'm still here. I moved out of state. It changed my WHOLE perspective on everything. I think it made me alot stronger. I've taken up self defense, and the use of anything you can get your hands on. I am an extreme people person, but am always learning now everyday, the art of survival.

The basic human need of self-preservation. That is where the fear of crime comes from.

The local TV media; our "fearless" President- constantly telling us to watch out for "Terrorists"; the Republican Party- who are always warning us that the Democrats are immoral (and of COURSE- THEY aren't! :) ). The bottom line IS- YOU are your own biggest "threat" to your well-being. One quick lapse of judgement (like answering your Cell phone while Driving)- and you're "finished". The statistics prove it.

We get it from people who point pistols and rifles.
From people who wield hatchets and hammers.
