Something happened, usually when I open notepad and go to open a file all the file names are there. Well now it just goes to "my documents" and I need to know where to find them. Can you help me?

If you click File--> Open don't you get the Look In bar at the top? You could go down that tree and find your file, that way, or you could double-click My Computer in the bar on the left (same stuff) and find your file, if you remember the folder that it's in...

If you don't then you need to go through your Search, go find the file, and memorize what folder the file's in.

Of course, if you KNOW the exact location of the file, then you could do it the "old-fashioned way". Like, if the file's in "c:\whatever\ subfolder\ myfile.txt" then you could open up a prompt by going to Start--> Run--> and type cmd.exe and in the little window type "notepad c:\whatever\ subfolder\ myfile.txt" (Don't know if Yahoo'll truncate my backslashes here so I left spaces between'em)

You can try to use the search on your computer and look for the name of one of your documents and that should give you the location of the files.

double click on the file, it should then give u the option to open with.... select the notepad to open it with. another option is to drag the .DAT file into a notepad. another option is to down load netbeans...but I wouldn't go to that much trouble... what are u doing with the dat files, are u programing a game and if so what game?
