Regardless of what the first two responders said, you have every right to send him a letter on an issue that you feel is important and deserves the attention of the federal government.

That being said, address your letter to:

President George W. Bush
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20500-0001

You'll probably receive a letter from the White House Office of Communications acknolwedging receipt of the letter, but don't expect any other type of reply.

Remember, too, that you can always e-mail the president through the White House's website: http://www.whitehouse.gov.

Lastly, I would recommend googling some websites that provide information on proper letter etiquette when writing to public officials.

Good luck.

"I wanna complain about how he should make cigarettes illegal."
-I'm sure a million people have sent every president ever letters about why this or that should be illegal. Any one of them should have been impeached immediately if they ever made time for such nonsense.
"Even though it's good money, who cares about materialistic things..?"
-In what world does the president not care about materialistic things? Economical sacrifices of any kind would be political suicide, just like just about everything else he does, but in a way he might be able to understand.
"What's more important health, or money? Seriously."
-I hate to break it to you, but you live in a world where you are more or less forced to bow down to the almighty dollar. Health is more important, of course, but the modern world lacks common sense, logic, and any kind of long-term thinking, so virtually all "big" decisions are made with economics being the most weighty factor in the argument. Anything that gives a different appearance is simply intended to mollify the masses so they forget about changing things and return to making and spending money.

Even if we pretend that his aims are toward the best interests of the American people and not prioritized based on donation sizes (how much money do you think "big tobacco" gave his campaigns?), he would still piss off more people than he would please (despite the fact that all the angry citizens were the ones actually being helped), and probably get impeached. Combine his incompetence with the insistence upon rights and so forth of the general population, and it is very clear that he could never make something like that work.

You also seem to think that the president can make and change laws all by himself. Nope, he can't.

The basic problem with government/ruling these days is that there are too many cooks in the kitchen, they're all incompetent, and they all have to answer to millions of even more incompetent people with only casual knowledge of the matters they attempt to resolve. On top of this, they are evaluated based on short-term, materialistic standards.

Why don't you respect other people's rights to smoke? I think you really need to get a life and let the president worry about more important things going on in this country. If tobacco is declared illegal, then the Government will have the same problem they have with other drugs. It will be a waste of time money, and resources that could be used solving problems that are solvable.

I'm not sure where to send the letter Michael. But, I would like to write him and thank him for the wonderful job he did as President. Everyone who complains about him should try to be President. I'll bet they can't do it!!!!

Do you know that a lot of the tobacco taxes go for health care for the poor. How will you replace those hundreds of millions of dollars?

1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

But Hitler beat you to it in Germany.
He banned cigarettes before the War.

You would have made a good Nazi.
