Newspapers and the Internet seem to have much more news than TV. Why is that? Aren't there any investigative reporters anymore?

Simply because:

1st time aired (6am)--people are going to work or are already at work;

1st time--lunchtime news (11am)--usually they might get a glimpse during lunch break.

2nd time (6pm) aired--people just coming home, tired, got things to do, meals to serve, and they might get a glimpse there.

3rd time (11pm)--the news slightly changes, a few of the days earlier headlines are shown, but not always fully. it has new things to show, and is great for those who have just finshed with the meal, homework, bathing, bedding kids, and everything else. then, it's time for bed.

Production value of TV news is significantly higher (and very costly). Writing on paper / internet is relatively cheap / quick, hence one can find more online news compared to print or TV.

CNN repeats itself 24 times (and hours) a day (annoying), so 3 times a day is not that high. Investigative journalism is definitely on the downtrend. It is so much easier (cheaper) to sprew the same spin that everyone else is talking about.

People tune into the News at different times. So to "catch" them all equally- TV news repeats itself (adding any "updates" that come along the way). But you're RIGHT; investigative news reporting IS dying out...-Primarily because it's a labor intensive expense that the Networks don't want to pay for- anymore. :(

I was wondering the same thing while I was home this summer. My parents watch the morning news, afternoon, five, six, and ten o'clock news. I always say that it is the same thing why watch it every time it airs. I would understand if they watched the morning, afternoon, and night.
For other people, the various times might be more convenient for them.

Even so, I have reached a point where I have to read a story related to the same topic in three or four different venues before I am able to sift out what I think "might" be the truth.
