I live in America where we pay for the the healthcare. I think the idea of raising taxes for healthcare would be a good idea the only problem would be that our goverment would not put the money where it should go.

The National health service here is a joke. I am an Army medic and get treated alot quicker because I have private health care and my job requires me to be fit and healthy at all times, however my mother who recently was diagnosed with cancer went private when she was told she would have to wait for her vital operation. She is now making a full recovery - would of been a different story if good old National health had put her on their waiting list. The taxes keep going up but the standard of care doesn't.

I would rather have an NHS system as that covers you for everything whether you break your arm or have a terminal illness. British Hospitals aren't too bad (speaking from personal experience) but i think some areas need to be improved.
However i doubt the taxes we pay in the UK in order to provide the NHS are anything in comparison to individual charges for certain illnesses where you pay per incident.
I would much rather be in the safe knowledge that if anything ever happened to me or my family treatment is on hand and we dont have to worry about funding it.
If anyone wanted the option of a higher class of healthcare there is also the option of private insurance (such as in the US etc) like BUPA so at least there is the option.

I get insurance through my job, however, I would support national healthcare even with more taxes if it meant that my company would increase my salary by whatever amount they were paying into my insurance, assuming they would no longer have to buy it. However, these corporate b.astards would probably pocket the extra money.

Of course I would. Everyone I know who has traveled to countrys where there is universal health care and needed to avail themselves of that service have raved about the care they received. We desperately need to elect an administration that will listen to the needs of the middle class, and stop catering to the wealthy who are in the pockets of military industrial complex.

Yes. I would prefer it that way. The only reason my credit sucks is because of my medical bills. Medicaid is a pain, and insurance is expensive. Then you still have the co pay. People don't get sick on purpose, we shouldn't have to choose between potential death or loosing everything to get better.

I live in Canada and we have free health care. I dunno if I would be able to want to live in a country where you have to pay every time you visit the doctor's just for a checkup. Way too expensive. Its sad how some people can't even get a simple dentist check up because of the cost.

I would like everything covered but being an American I know that the system is TOO greedy to allow it.
It could be free and they'd still come up with co-pays and 'premium' benefits.

If paying more taxes would help I would not have a problem with it.
