Your fish will be fine if you are gone for 3 days. I leave my fish once to twice a year for 7-10 days and they are fine. The worst thing you can do is put extra food in the aquarium before you leave. A day before you leave do your regular aquarium maintenance, water change and cleaning. Make sure you check the filtration before you leave and everything should be fine. I used to have people come in and feed the fish for me when I was away and it never worked well. Even though I would leave out pre-measured packets something always went wrong and I would either loose some fish or come home to a filthy overfed tank. I can't recall loosing any fish since I stopped having people take care of my aquariums while I'm away.

Your beta should be fine for a few days but you will need to feed him as soon as you get home. These fish come from the mucky mud along the waters edge in India I believe and that's why they are so tough.. We've had our beta for a long time now and he's always been the lone survivior. Have a great weekend!

Your Betta fish should be fed 3 pellets of food each day. (Hikari Beta Bio-Gold food) Feeding your Betta twice a day, am and pm is recommended by almost all professional breeders. If you decide to feed your Betta twice a day, only 2 pellets per feeding is recommended. A Betta’s stomach is only as big as his eye and over feeding will surely cause death. Your Betta can go up to 4 days without food and it is recommended to skip a day once in a while, even in the wild Bettas do not always eat everyday.

whilst i exchange right into a infant our goldfish under no circumstances lasted longer than 2 or 3 months. As a teenager, some fancy goldfish lasted approximately 4 months. a pair of years in the past, we've been given some goldfish and that they are nonetheless alive after 2 years. the lads and that i've got discovered lots approximately looking after fish the previous couple of years and that i know now what i exchange into doing incorrect returned then. The Betta fish could have died considering the fact which you replaced all the water at as quickly as and in step with possibility it wasn't elderly? The fish could have long gone into ask your self because of the fact the water could not have been ideal -- it particularly is merely my wager. We had a Betta die after 3 months, however the water have been given too chilly. we are trying yet another one, yet he would be in a 5 gal tank with heater and air powered clear out.

As long as your Betta is healthy he will be fine without food for a few days. Most healthy fish can go weeks without eating. If you have him in a bowl make sure you do your water change before you leave and feed him his regular amount of food. No need to feed extra, it will cloud up the water.

I've had bettas for 3 years, they will be fine. They will be hungry tho. like someone else was saying, DO NOT overfeed him when u get back...
"Remember that bettas are not big eaters and it is very easy to overfeed. Since fish have to eat and produce waste as a result of eating, water changes are a must, and there is no exception when it comes to bettas. In fact, since a lot of bettas are kept in small containers that don't have some sort of filtration, water changes are even more important and need to be done every 2 or 3 days to prevent toxic build up."
In other words, lol he'll be fine but if you want to feel safer, go to Walmart and buy a betta tablet feeder thingy...

3 days is just a short period. He should be able to withstand it.
I have left behind my bettas for about 8 days yearly as my in-laws stays overseas. I've more than 50 bettas at anytime. But I did leave them with good setting in the their tanks, with some plants and soils. As long as the tanks' not over-polluted, the plants and the worms hiding in the soil will be the food to take them over the long period of our absent.
Good luck to you.

Don't worry about your beta fish. He will be fine for three days without food. If you are very nervous about him, though, go to your local pet store and buy him a special pellet that will last three days. But, follow these three guidelines, you'll be fine......
DO NOT, DO NOT!!!!!
*dump extra food in the tank.
*have someone feed him.
*take him home with you, he would not fare well in the car.

Your Betta will survive weeks without feeding.Three days should be a piece of cake. No worries. To be extra nice, give him a nice partial water change before leaving and enjoy your week-end with a clear conscience.
