(-2,-6) is in quadrant III.
This means that you go left twice and down 6 times.
-2 is your X and -6 is your Y
the X is the horizontal line and Y is the Vertical line.

Well, since both the numbers are negative the dot will be in the third quadrant. It makes sense.

(x, y) Find -2 on the X line.

That would be to the left on the horizontal line.

Then you need to place the y number which is -6. The y line is the up and down line. So then start at o,o like how you did the -2 but go down 6. Down because it is a negative number.

So then follow the -2 dot down six and that is where your final point is. Another words, you follow the two numbers til the intercept.

REALLY helpful tips to plotting points:

Remember positive numbers= up and to the right
Negative numbers=down and to the left

Quad I(+,+)
Quad 2 (-,+)
Quad 3 (-,-)
Quad 4 (+,-)

So when you see any set of numbers look at the signs of those numbers and you know where the point should be

ALSO, (X, Y) the x is across, the y is up and down

This should help you out

In quadrant 3....
From center, go left 2 units. Then go down 6 units. You will be off the chart, but that's where (-2, -6) is.

points are marked (x,y) in that order so in your case X= -2 and Y is -6. Find your X axis which is the horizontal line and find where -2 is on it. Then find your Y axis and find -6 on it. You will find where it ends.

Its in the third quadrant, because both numbers are negative. You move two to the left and six down.
