I kno that its discourteous not to give two weeks notice but I quit a job when I was 17 years old (im now 19) at a clothing store working part time. Me and the manager were very close but I had to end up getting another job because i was making minimum wage and only getting 6-12 hours a week, and plus I was about to start school full time. The stress of 2 jobs was too much for me so I quit my job at the clothing store without giving notice....The manager that was there when i was there doesnt work there anymore and i want to go back and apply for a job...do you think i have a chance of getting rehired?
**No rude commentz please**

♥ Thanx to everyone who took time out to read and answer my question.....

Well you have two choices, apply for it and hope for the best (doubtful) or apply and ask to speak with the manager to explain your situation when you where young, as hard as that might be being upfront and honest might help. Best of luck to you no matter what your choice may be

It's possible. However, regardless of whether your old manager still works there or not - the new hiring manager will be reviewing your old job history as well as the HR department - (I work in Human Resources)
How long were you there before you quit? What about your attendance? Did you constantly call in sick, not show up, show up late? How was your attitude toward your co-workers, customers, upper management? Did you receive any verbal warnings for your behavior? Any awards?

If your answers to the above questions are positive, you may have a chance of getting rehired. However, be aware that if you do get considered and called in for an interview; the fact that you left without giving the proper amount of notice will almost definitely be brought up during the interview process. So, be sure to explain yourself well without making excuses when you answer any questions pertaining to your prior actions.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Its possible they can re-hire you. Chances are that 2 years after you left, the entire management and retail staff may have completely turned over so they don't know how you left there the first time around. Of course if you mentioned you worked there before, they'll look up your in-store record (assuming they retain them that long), and see what your employee report is. Just hope that the old manager you knew had written positive things about you and hopefully not mention that you quit on no notice. The edge you have here is that you already have experience working in that place before, so the learning curve is small for you.

Give it a shot and apply there again, there's nothing to lose... and the worst thing they'll do is pass on you.

Your rehire will depend on a few factors.
If the company is corporate, you might not be eligible for rehire. Most big ones will red flag anyone who doesn't give proper notice so you might be out of luck. If it is a small shop, perhaps owner-operated, you may be able to talk them into it. Most places don't like to rehire however because they feel you will leave them high and dry again.
The best way to find out if they will rehire you is to go in and ask them. With luck, you may be rehired.
Think positive thoughts and go for it!
Good luck.

yes, they can rehire you, but most of the time it depends on the way you left that job. If they made note of who you are and the presentation of not being responsible enough to let your job know you are leaving and that you can't provide a two weeks notice, most companies will work with you. If you were able to discuss with the manager about the way you felt at your position when you were last employed, maybe that manager could have worked with you on it, or might still do it. It all depends on the attitude and the way you left that job. Hope it helps.

Certainly they can rehire you. You can always try to explain your situation. Honestly, they probably won't. I wouldn't hire someone back that did not give me notice. Also, contrary to what someone above said, part-time clothing store workers or any worker, are not a dime-a-dozen. It is hard to find good employees now days. Anytime you leave a job without notice you are leaving someone in the lurch.

Good luck.

I swear I mean no offense, but part time clothing store workers are a dime a dozen & are easily replaced. You did them no harm. I bet it happens all the time. The managers probably expect it to some degree, so I wouldn't worry about that.
If you have to put on the app that you worked there before, say yes & explain that since you were friendly with the other manager you were able to leave w/o giving 2 weeks.
You should be fine.

As a manager (retired) I would have put down on the termination notice, the following statement. Not rehireable, quit without notice. Each company is different though and will do what they want. I have never rehired an employee that QUIT with out notice.

a job can do anything they want its possible u could get rehired if they understood ur reason for leaving w/o a notice but alot of people wont rehire someone who did that but then again it has been two years and im sure alot of faces come and go through there so they might not even kno. i think its worth a shot

Yes, but I believe it is up to your previous employer. When you left it seems your reason was positive, but you know a notice was necessary. Based on these facts and the fact that you are older and value a good job, i would say go for it!
