But many polls show him ahead of Hillary already. Once he offically declares, I think he will gain about 10% more. The election could be called today, and Fred Thompson would win.

Well, it is Labor day and this time will be the stretch run period for the candidates just before the primaries. If he's jumping in, strategically this would be a good time.
