Guys....

What's the difference from a dress and a skirt?

2007-08-30 09:55:05 · 32 answers · asked by lovin' it 6 in Entertainment & Music Polls & Surveys

There was this survey taken and most guys don't know the difference. A skirt starts from the waist and goes down and a dress covers the top half of the body and down. Most guys think that the difference is length ~ dresses are long and skirts are short, so no this is NOT a stupid question. Another thing, what's with all the girl's having cranky attitudes. Gosh, it's just a question. And it proved to be right in some cases. This is not to make fun of guys, it's just to see how many know the difference and how many don't. =)

It depends. Skirts are almost always shorter, but I'm not sure if that is the defining factor...a more important factor might be whether or not the part that covers your legs is the same piece of clothing as what is up over your torso and shoulders or whether it only comes up to your waist.

On the other hand, the fact that you are addressing this to guys only suggests that the answer (as you know it) is highly complicated and obscure, and that you expect us guys to be uanble to answer so that you can laugh at us. Well, if that's the case, you can laugh at me for getting this wrong only after you tell me how many hit points a zerg mutalisk has. >:D

A skirt is a tube- or cone-shaped garment which hangs from the waist and covers all or part of the legs. A dress (also frock, gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice or with a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment.

A dress is an entire outfit, and the skirt is only the lower half of the outfit below the belt.

um...a dress is an entire outfit and a skirt is just a bottom, right? Is this a trick question or something? Am I right? This question feels like it's too easy.

the way this Q is made out it's like you don't expect any of us guys to know and if women answer the'll give it away. so i'm going to assume there's more to this than the differences between skirts and dresses.
