When i was in middle school all the freakishly skinny girls has were the obsession of practically all the guys, and i know it wasnt becuz of their personality, theyre complete superficial airheads. and its not that im super jealous, im just curious. any thoughts as to why this is?

Blame the Media and Fashion Industry. As times change so does what people find attractive, a major influence on what is attractive are the Media and Fashion Industries. Look at 40 years ago who was the Pinnacle of Beauty, Marlyn Monroe, she was what? a size 12, Positively huge by toady's standards. And each year Paris and Televising come up with new trends and fashions that glorify women who are unhealthily skinny. Look at the Tyra Banks show, Next Top Model, where the girls are expected to be at least 10 pounds skinnier than even what is normally considered skinny, because 'the Camera Adds 10 Pounds'.
And what has been the trend for the past fees years, Drug addiction couture, where the models look like they are strung out on Coke, or Heroin. Next it will be skeleton couture, where you have to see bones before it is attractive.
Teenage boys don't know any better, they follow the trends as much as anyone else, and they submit to peer pressure, so even if a guy found a girl with a little meat on her body attractive, his buddies would give him all sorts of grief. 'Hey, man! he likes the porkers!' So rather than submit to the ostracism's he will hide his true feelings and go after the skinny girl, because that's the cool thing to do.
What we need is to rebel, go back to health and nutrition classes, find what the healthy weight looks like and model that look.
Bottom line, if you feel good about yourself eventually that will be noticed and you will find that guys notice you even more than they notice the neurotic skinny girls. It just take a little maturity, and remember it is true when they say girls mature faster than boys, so give it Little time and they will catch up.

Those guys are shallow, superficial
air/bone heads who only think
with their anatomy and are obsessed with the glamor magazine version of what an ideal female should resemble.
They've been indoctrinated by the fashion industry and do not possess an original thought.
But don't lose any sleep over the matter; you're much better off without these creeps anyhow.
Just bear in mind that not all guys are this way.
There are still plenty of males out there who can actually think for themselves without the puppet-
master operating their every movement. Peace.

Those are the insecure guys. The need the "hot chick" on their arm so they look good.
Not all guys are like this. And high school is not the real world. Things will change, and most of those skinny girls will end up really fat with lots of kids.

I have a theory. It's because they're feeling good about themselves and it shows.
They're not hiding themselves behind baggy clothes. They're flaunting their meager assets and frankly, guys love that.
Take Victoria Whosit for example. Granted she's got siliboobs which would cause a second look from most guys, but even if she didn't she dresses as if she thinks she's hot. Real or fake, that attitude is like honey to the bees.

I think 99% of the guys I have ever dated have said that they do not care for the "I desperately need a cheeseburger" look. I have always had a little bubble booty, and curves. I am not fat, but I look like a woman should. I KNOW some women are naturally tiny, and I have no problem with that. But I am telling you, there IS hope in the future. The boys will become men and realise they want to be with someone that they do not have to worry about breaking, or loosing them to a strong breeze.

i love the answers! its like a total reverse of hating fat. now we hate on the skinny chicks? hahaha. guys go for what they find attractive. attractivness changes all the time and from person to person. love yourself and take care of yourself and thats all that matters. my girlfriend is skinny but thats her body type she eats alot and never gains weight shes just a freak that should be executed. but thats not what i found attractive about her. im the opposite. i work out and watch what i eat and i will always be the stocky guy. don't be so harsh to judge skinny chicks

I don't get it, my brother (in his 30's) like the skinny ones but there also kind of short too-weird!
I know some of those girls hate how they look though my sister was and still is very thin and she hated it, everyone asked her is she ate enough when she was younger and she was teased a lot, now she's in her twenty's and she's filled out a bit and looks great!

I don't believe ALL guys go for super skinny girls, but the ones that do are shallow and base their tastes on society (what they see in magazines, movies, and tv).
The real men go for women with curves (not fat, but just enough meat on the bones).

Like Flower said,alot of girls want to be thin and they get jealous and mean to the skinny girls because they can't be like that.It is all about JEALOUSY!!!
