If I had an extra 10 grand just to invest, right now I would either:

Buy US dollars, as I believe the dollar is under-valued at this time. When the dollar goes back up you can sell and make a nice profit, and it will eventually go back up.

The next alternative would be to hedge the dollar against a precious metal like gold. Traditionally gold responds in the opposite direction of the US dollar. So, it is a great safety hedge. You can check out how to get started with a bank like Evergreen. You don't actually have to take delivery of the gold, just certificates. This is a safe, short or long term investment.

Sorry but I am not on an investment mode. I am on retirement mode. Sometimes, it is just a wonderful feeling to know that you are not compelled to earn much more. That you do not have to work for surplus.

That money would be going to a car. Then the rest I will save for the days when Baylor wants my money!

A small but tasteful stock portfolio. RCA,GE,all those companies that make electrical appliances. That's the safest stock with a good return.
