I want to transplant sedum (I have tons of it) from our primary residence to vacation home residence 200 miles away (both are in Maryland). Can I do it now? It is in 'bloom'... When I transplant it back home, I just pull on one stem, plop it in the ground, and in a year it gives me a 'cabbage-like' bush. I usually do this in the spring though. Can I do it now (Aug/Sep)? I don't care if it look bad after transplant, I just want it to come back in the spring.... Any pointers? Thanks!

Transplanting Sedum

You should really wait until Spring. Although sedum is easy to start, it is too close to Autumn to transplant now and get enough root to make it through the winter.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Good Luck

I would do it now. Sedum is a very hardy plant. The worst that will happen is that it may not come back. Then you can transplant some in the spring.

Cut back the blooms and transplant it, or wait till early spring.

I wouldn't do it right now, but wait a month or two and you'll be fine. I'm planning on splitting several big ones in my yard this fall.
