I'm going to build on Richard C's answer because I've been talking about this since Andy Roddick came on tour...
If Andy Roddick will develop a strong serve and volley game and stop trying to overpower people from the baseline, he'll win another major(s) and I have no doubt about it. It would likely be Wimbledon. With his serve (his 2nd is even better than his 1st IMO) there's no reason why he couldn't literally overwhelm players utilizing his most feared weapon.
Everyone talks about Roddick being one dimentional with his serve. I won't dispute this but rather suggest that he take that dimention and use it for it's best purpose...serve and volley. He's been toying with it for a year now but until he commits, he'll always underutilize his talents. Waffling back and forth between S&V and baseline is no way to win consistantly.
He and everyone else on the planet would love to have Federer's all-court abilities but since they don't, they have to make the best use of what they have. For Roddick, it would be to using his serve to set up his net play.
Sorry that got so long. I've actually been wanting to get that out for a while. LOL! Thanks!
Keep it between the lines!

I hate to say it but I think he may not win another one. The guy (as well as everyone else on the ATP tour) is just playing in the wrong time right now. The fact that there is this dominant force monopolizing majors like this is just a bad luck of the draw for the tour. He can't win another one because of this. I agree that the only way he could win another one is to have Federer get hurt or upset. Even if Federer retires early, there's already a new generation of players to take his place. Roddick would have to deal with those guys next, at which the only thing he'll have going for him is experience and *maybe* his serve.

I think that he is probably done, but to win a major at all is an accomplishment that very few people get to achieve. He is just around at the wrong time. As if it wasn't bad enough that he has to contend with the Fed-man, then comes Nadal and now Djokovic. This being said, all it takes is a favorable draw and a higher ranked player, having a bad day. The window of opportunity shrinks a little with each major..

He's going to win 3 or 4 major titles before he calls it quits. There is a high chance he'll win this US Open. He started playing well in the second set in his 2nd round match. Roger has to face the young and hard serving Isner. So, he's got a lot left in the tank. No doubt though who will be considered the greatest of this generation. Federer!
Thanks for question and God Bless...

I guess you can see a trend developing. I'll be surprised if he wins another one. It's not just Federer. It's Nadal and Djokovic, and dark horses like Gasquet at Wimbledon this year. In Indian Wells, Nadal showed that there is quite a gap between him and Roddick. I think he has already won his final grand slam.

unfortunately i am with all others here, i think he is done, sorry to say that he peaked his talent at the wrong time. while not only federer and nadal are above him, some other players catching up as well. he's game is too one-dimensional, and you are right, at this point i only see if federe were hurt,he could have the chance to reach final and someone take care of nadal on the other side of draw, yes, that is possible. but so far federer been pretty free of injury.

The run he had to witn the US Open was phenominal, but he lacks the consistent groundstrokes to win another major. Such a heavy serve and he stands on the baseline.....it makes absolutely no sense. Yes, the classic serve-and-volley game went the way of the wood rackets, but an opponent knows to keep the ball deep, in play and watch Andy spray one due to impatience.

at least chang made it to more GS finals and gave himself a chance....
roddick lost his opportunity...largely due to federer....but also due to the lack of change in his game to compete with the best.....its too late now...considering all the amazing young talent rising up....djokovic, murray, berdych, gasquet, monfils...and even donald young
roddick wont even make another GS final in his career
