I just noticed that Curtis Granderson might accomplish this feat this year. Not to mention he has 17 stolen bases as well! This guy is very underrated. 2008 Fantasy Baseball draft picks take note!

6 players have hit 20 or more doubles, triples and home runs in baseball history.

1899 - Buck Freeman (Washington Senators) avg .318, 20-2b, 26-3b, 25-HR

1911 - Frank Shulte (Chicago Cubs) avg .300, 30-2b, 21-3b, 21-HR

1928 - Jim Bottomley (St. Louis Cardinals) avg .325, 42-2b, 20-3b, 31-HR

1941 - Jeff Heath (Cleveland Indians) avg .340, 32-2b, 20-3b, 24-HR

1957 - Willie Mays (NY Giants) avg .333, 26-2b, 20-3b, 35-HR

1979 - George Brett (Kansas City Royals) avg .329, 42-2b, 20-3b, 23-HR

Curtis Granderson would be the 7th player in history to do so if he can hit 3 more HR's. As of Aug 29th, he has 34-2b, 21-3b, 17-HR.

As for stolen bases, I put those numbers below.

Freeman - 21
Shulte - 23
Bottomley - 10
Heath - 18
Mays - 38
Brett - 17

Bottom line, Granderson is having a career year. Good old Chicago boy. If I'm not mistaken, he hit the first grand slam of his career this year too.

The last to do it was George Brett in 1979. Granderson would be only the sixth in baseball history to do it. Here's a list of the others:

The answer by "md" below is incorrect. A quick check of Buck Freeman's stats shows that he had 19 doubles in 1899, not the 20 needed to fit this question.

Mays

the sole modern-day participant I see having any probability would be Carl Crawford. He has good skill and intensely good speed. the situation is that he performs in a fashionable park with smaller outfields than decrease back whilst Wilson hit his record for triples. Earl Webbs record for doubles (sixty seven) is a lot extra achieveable now; expecially if enjoying in Fenway Park. it would nonetheless be an incredible feat.
