some system files maybe corrupted due to a virus or accidentally deleted system files/ currupt files. try to repair your computer through your windows installation disc, or if you like, you can also reformat your windows OS so that viruses hide from the volume maybe deleted permanently.

It could be your graphics card failing. Games use your graphics card's resources more than anything else, and if your computer is telling you it has a "hardware failure" the first thing that comes to my mind is your Graphics Card.

You might need to try another graphics card in your system to verify that the problem doesn't persist. I looked up your issue in some tech forums and it's a good bet that's the problem. I'd post the websites for them but they are fairly random. I would check with the maker of your graphics card for the best support.

Before going any further - turn it off. Now open the case and see how dusty it is. Blow out all the dust. With the case still open turn it on. Make sure all the fans are spinning freely. You should have one over the CPU (critical) as well as one in the back of the power supply. Hopefully you have at least one more case fan and may have one on your video card. Your problem could be overheating as the issue even though the video card as previously mentioned could also be problematic.

most blue screens of death as they are known as are down to a hardware failure or runtime error
as these crashes seem to happen while playing games i am thinking its got something to do with your graphic card or the graphic drivers/direct X runtime files
theres many reasons why this happens but the first things to try are 1)display drivers, update with the latest drivers from the appropriate website 2)update the direct X runtime files from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en
if your graphic card requires a power supply make sure you dont use a splitter, although the cards manual may say its ok to do this, trust me it causes many problems, use a single power connector,if needed split the power between the optical drives and hard drives
also and very importantly make sure you have a adequate power supply.a mid range graphics card(7600gs / x1600)requires a 400watt and above psu...a x1950pro/7900gs needs a 500watt psu and a 8800gts/gtx needs a 600watt and above
sli and crossfire configurations require a 600watt and above however using 2 8800gts cards would require a 700watt psu
however to make sure you have a adequate power supply go to http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp and use the psu calculator to work out your total power usage, add another 100watts just to be sure and then you have a rough idea of what size of power supply you need
also you need to 1)give you fans(cpu, rear case and graphic card)a good blast with some compressed air(air duster),and check all cables ,leads and wires,a loose cable can easily cause a crash
other reasons can be incompatible memory or a i.r.q conflict
hope this helps
good luck mate!

have you added any thing to the PC? if you have remove it and see if the problem occurs , usually something has been changed and windows does cant "talk" to the pc so reports it as an error
check the drivers for your hardware see if there are new drivers.(graphics card ?)
memory added - memory ok?

ps

get Acronis back up software to take a "image" of your system if it all goes wrong and you have to re install its so easy instead of having to reinstall everything

No in no way, that's in basic terms it you have been applying it provided that 2000, and that i wager not something has been reinstalled. Your laptop in all probability has a brilliant form of disk fragmentation, which may well be fastened with the aid of applying Disk Defragmenter. additionally this is advisable to run examine disk, that's a software which will test your not straight forward driving force for errors and fasten what it may. those classes may well be discovered with the aid of going into my laptop acceptable clicking oncontinual C: happening to residences and as quickly as the window pops up circulate to the kit tab. examine disk is under errors-checking click on the button next to it examine the two bins and click ok restart enable it run then whilst your laptop boots up circulate decrease back to the comparable window and circulate to the disk defragmenter under examine disk, click that's button and whilst the Defragmenter lots click the defragment button. this would take a while, yet enable it run and don't do something on your laptop, it won't harm it to realize this, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it will boost the time it takes to defragment, so this is appropriate left by myself. good success. P.S.- i does not do a clean deploy in basic terms yet, which would be drastic and time eating to declare the least, as nicely it does positioned your laptop with the aid of some rigors and your hardware would fail leaving you without working laptop, i'd recommend purely doing that for the duration of the adventure that your laptop starts off having errors, and then i'd recommend having a technician do it in case something does take place, be valuable to invite them to diminish back up your information, in case you won't be able to or do not understand how.

first, when the pc is booting press F8 and select "last known good configuration" . Once pc has completed bootup run disk checker then defrag.
clean up your pc to make it run faster....here are some tip.....

Free Up Disk Space

By freeing disk space, you can improve the performance of your computer. The Disk Cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk. The utility identifies files that you can safely delete, and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to
Remove temporary Internet files.
Remove downloaded program files (such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets).
Empty the Recycle Bin.
Remove Windows temporary files.
Remove optional Windows components that you don't use.
Remove installed programs that you no longer use.

Tip: Typically, temporary Internet files take the most amount of space because the browser caches each page you visit for faster access later.

To use Disk Cleanup

1.Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup. If several drives are available, you might be prompted to specify which drive you want to clean.
Disk Cleanup dialog box

Disk Cleanup calculates the amount of space you will be able to free.

2.In the Disk Cleanup for dialog box, scroll through the content of the Files to delete list.
Disk Cleanup for dialog box

Choose the files that you want to delete.

3.Clear the check boxes for files that you don't want to delete, and then click OK.

4.When prompted to confirm that you want to delete the specified files, click Yes.

After a few minutes, the process completes and the Disk Cleanup dialog box closes, leaving your computer cleaner and performing better.

Speed Up Access to Data

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk when the file is opened to piece it back together. The response time can be significantly longer.

Disk Defragmenter is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end-to-end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.

When to Run Disk Defragmenter

In addition to running Disk Defragmenter at regular intervals, optimally monthly, certain events warrant running the utility outside of the monthly rule of thumb.

You should run Disk Defragmenter under the following circumstances:
You add a large number of files.
Your free disk space nears 15 percent.
You install new programs or a new version of Windows.

To use Disk Defragmenter:

1.Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.
Disk Defragmenter dialog box

Click Analyze to start the Disk Defragmenter.

2.In the Disk Defragmenter dialog box, click the drives that you want to defragment, and then click the Analyze button.

After the disk is analyzed, a dialog box appears, letting you know whether you should defragment the analyzed drives.

Tip: You should analyze a volume before defragmenting it to get an estimate of how long the defragmentation process will take.

3.To defragment the selected drive or drives, click the Defragment button.

After the defragmentation is complete, Disk Defragmenter displays the results.

4.To display detailed information about the defragmented disk or partition, click View Report.

5.To close the View Report dialog box, click Close.

6.To close the Disk Defragmenter utility, click the Close button on the title bar of the window.

Detect and Repair Disk Errors

In addition to running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility.

As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult, or even impossible. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors, and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.

If you use your computer daily, you should try to run this utility weekly to help prevent data loss.

To run the Error Checking utility:

Important: Be sure to close all files before running the Error-Checking utility.

1.Click Start, and then click My Computer.

2.In the My Computer window, right-click the hard disk you want to search for bad sectors, and then click Properties.

3.In the Properties dialog box, click the Tools tab.

4.Click the Check Now button.

5.In the Check Disk dialog box, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.
Check Disk dialog box

In most circumstances, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

6.If bad sectors are found, choose to fix them.

Tip: Only select the Automatically fix file system errors check box if you think that your disk contains bad sectors.
