Well, I know that Brooke Sheild's daughter is named Rowan. That was really the first time I ever heard it. Its nice and original.

If you like names that are different then that's a great name. Personally, I don't like the name very much. It doesn't sound like a name for a person, especially not for a girl. I could understand if it was a boy, but I don't think a girl would want to be named Rowan.

How about Rowena? You can call her Rowan as a nickname, but personally I think Rowan is too masculine of a name to give a girl.

You have to put yourself in her place and think of your life as a girl being called Rowan. Imagine her hanging out with her friends and being called by her name.

Imagine her getting married and the priest saying "Do you Rowan something take this man to be.."

Imagine and think and then decide if you think its appropriate.

Have fun :D

Well, I think it's a boys name and it reminds me of Mr. Bean. But if we didn't associate it with men or Rowan Atkinson, it would be a perfectly wonderful name for a girl. Hey, if you like it and don't care what others think, go for it! Rowena is a good alternative, but it's the name of Rowena Ravenclaw, a character in Harry Potter.

I LOVE it. I love unique names, and this is definately different. she will most likely be the only rowan in her class, maybe even in her school, and if you are like me, that is exactly what you want. i get so sick of people naming their children common, unoriginal names. be creative! and different!

If you are not pagan, it is a bad choice as it is a very popular name amongst that group. Otherwise, I like the name. It is a type of tree.
