The professors you cite are providing some explanations for the African way of thinking. What they say is that, for Africans, there is no Cartesian "mind-body" distinction. For Africans, the soul does not leave the body upon death. The singular entity of the person continues forth as a vitale force in the world / universe. This is the mythical way of thinking explained by Father Temples.

It is a mythical consciousness assumed by the person upon their death. It can further be distinguished from reincarnation, which was erroneously used to describe the belief in the past.
