They just want the best possible scenario for conception-so they suggest no caffeine along with taking your prenatal pills and not drinking. It doesn't mean that your cup of coffee a day is going to keep the baby away-just that you might have a better chance of conceiving if you are cutting out the ten cups your drink. Everything in moderation and all should be well. With three kids, you know how to conceive-just go with your gut.

I don't think drinking a moderate amount of caffeine is such a big deal, I never had problems trying to conceive so never ha this certain discussion with my doctor. I know they just would like you to avoid caffeine while you are breast feeding for certain.

I ttc'd for 7 months. I quit drinking caffeine during the 7th month, and got pregnant!

However, I made many many changes in my routine, due to being very desperate to conceive. (such as: Taking Clomid, being more active, losing 10 pounds, orgasming before intercourse, propping hips up on pillows afterwards, drinking more water, and charting my bbt.) Who knows what really did it.

Its always been a big issue, they just didnt push it because the research wasnt conclusive until now.

Caffeine blocks the absorption and metabolization of calcium and b vitamins, including folic acid.

If its not in you, its not in your baby, especially in the first few weeks when embryo's development is dependent on those nutrients.
