My mom did it when she was pregnant with me, and she said all it did was make her sick out both ends! Of course, in her case, my head was lodged in a tilt in her pelvis, and nothing short of a c-section was getting me out. Thats why I was a month overdue.
I have read that in normal pregnancies it works if the baby is ready to come out, but not if the baby just isn't ready. Either way, it will probably make you sick. Its not a method I would try, not when sex, walking, nipple stimulation and red raspberry leaf tea have the same or better success rates. All these methods (including castor oil) have been used world wide for millenia by doctors and midwives alike to induce labor (there are even examples of other primates using sex and nipple rubbing to help labor to progress), but you should talk to your doctor before trying any of them just to be sure.

I had a friend who had a few teaspoons of it and it just made her feel sick.
My mother took a bunch like everyone told her to and she was on the toilet all night and then throwing up at the same time.
All it does is make you sick and get rid of all your fluids which dehydrates you and can possibly cause contractions. Some women it works and some it doesn't but just ask yourself if you want to go thru throwing up and diahrrea also possibly.
Good Luck
PS/I would stick to having sex, walking on uneven grounds, bouncing on birthing balls etc. to try to induce labor..but...I also believe the baby will come when he/she is ready also.

I've never heard of that before. Some use Castor oil to go #2, but that's all I thought it was useful for. I wouldn't do it. Go see your doc.

Try making yourself some ginger tea, instead. Buy some ginger, shred/shave it, and boil the ginger shavings for a few minutes. Strain the water, and you've got yourself some ginger tea! It brings on contractions naturally. If you don't want it as strong, you can also mix the tea with milk.

I did. The most horrible experience. I was in the bathroom for hours and after all of that NO baby. Alot of my friends have tried it, but I have yet to find someone it worked for.
Nipple stimulation is the only thing I know that works (for me).

I tried that with my last baby, it does not work. It makes you sick as can be and do not recommend doing it.

If you are past due, ask your doctor when he will consider inducing you in the hospital, the right way. Do not attempt it at home.

Doesn't work, does make you sh!t your heart out...which sometimes my spark contractions. But if you have diarrhea you are more likely to become dehydrated and weak...something you do not want to be if you go into labor. Please steer clear of this wives tale.

My co-worker said that she did that and within three hours she was in labor.

no don't do it, I've heard horrible things about this. It has so many bad side effects if you drink it.
