I'd actually wait until the baby became old enough to decide that for himself or herself. Some people like having unique features like that and if I had had it removed years earlier, that person might not be too pleased I had it done. I don't like having alterations made to other people's bodies unless there is a compelling medical reason for it.

The extra toe would only get in the way of wearing shoes, and would get the child teased unmercifully - yes, no reason to keep it. It's a minor thing, best done while still a baby.

Yes,it would create orthopedic problems and also has the potential for psychological damage from teasing.

Yes, they can tie a cord around it
to cut off blood surply, and it will
fall off. They did it with my finger
(it wasn't a full finger, just a stub)
