No, you can't make it quieter downstairs - if turning down the music isn't an option, then maybe you should look for another place to have your party.

If you can keep the windows closed, that will help (run the air conditioner at least an hour before the party and any fans to cool the house). Also, if your place is carpeted or you have large area rugs, that will muffle some of the sound. Also upholstered furniture, wall hangings and draperies muffle sound. If you can, hang a fabric curtain over the front door, so any sound that wafts through the door will be muffled. Keep the door closed as much as possible. Stuff rugs at the crack in the bottom of the front door so sound doesn't escape under the door. Good luck!

the best thing would be to have more insulation in the floor and walls, I doubt that's an option for you though. I would suggest covering any vents (if they're on the floor) with a pillow/towel or something like that, that would keep the sound from traveling through the ac ducts, however you'd have to have some fans in the room to keep cool. other than that there isn't a whole lot you can do to quickly soundproof a room.

well depends on what you make who owns the home and if you are prepared to make some annoyed friends after you start
you should go to a contractor to ask about sound proofing your room it is kinda spensive but usually worth it there may be a type of laydown stuff. for the floor but i just dont know
