I'm 36 weeks and chewing a hot dog right this second.
I always heard to stay away from deli meats, but honestly I don't pay attention to most of that stuff. With the exception of drugs and alcohol, I don't really stay away from anything. Especially not a harmless hot dog!
(this one's yummy, btw)

It's because it may carry Listera, which is very harmful to the fetus. It's also carried in lunch meats and some cheeses. You CAN eat these things but they must be heated to steaming before eaten to kill any bacteria. So, Hot dogs are ok if you cook them properly. And if you want lunch meat, I suggest after you buy it, heat it to steaming in the microwave and then refridgerate it so it's cold when you want ot make your sandwich.

cold cuts, unpasteurized foods and hotdogs easily develop bacteria that causes listeria. Which pregnant woman and children have lower immunities to fight it off. Basically its food poisoning, but it has risks to the fetus, and your body doesn't fight of bacteria and illness as well while your are pg.

listeriosis... its a bacteria that is harmful to pregnant women. also, processed lunch meats, & certain cheeses that have not been pasturized can carry this bacteria. ask your doctor to give you a list of things that you should stay away from. if you heat the hot dogs and lunch meats up to a really high temperature then they are ok to eat.

Nitrates. Not good for you or the baby. You can find bologna and hotdogs without it, just look for the all natural or kosher stuff. 100% beef or kosher dogs taste better anyway!

it is because they are processed meats and could have bactieria on them, you can eat them, but you need to make sure that they are warmed up all the way thru to ensure there is no germs, you should not eat roast beef as it is pretty much raw.
