O.k, I will answer this in a serious manner. First of all we need to get to the bottom of what causes wifebeating in the first place. Is it a sense of superiority? Or, is it a sense of inferiority, helplessness, inability to communicate and lack of control on the part of the husband? And, just in case you didn't know but a sense of superiority is pretty much the same as feeling inferior. I grew up in a house where my father beat my mother on a continual basis. It was horrible. Needless to say, childhood wasn't pleasant. However, I really think one needs to look at the psychology of the man who beats his wife to cure this situation. Beating him up isn't the answer. Although it is extremely tempting and I'd probably be the first to step in front of the line to beat him. However, I really believe the guy needs to be incarcerated for a year. It should be a crime since it is a crime for any man to commit a violent act on another person whether it be man or woman who isn't his wife. It's called assault and it is a crime. Why shouldn't it be a crime if a man beat's his wife. But during that incarceration he needs to go through intense psychological therapy and find out what the hell his problem is. When you think about it, there really is a sense of a pathetic helplessness with men who beat their wives. They have no control over their emotions, they can't communicate without acts of violence and there is a good chance they don't feel like they have control over their lives if they have to try to control someone elses' life in such a horrible way. And, it doesn't matter if the man is successful business or some poor slob in the trailer park, the point is, we have to get to the bottom of the problem to solve it. And, in terms of the wife, she should leave the husband at once. Being beaten up by the one that you love and trust is a total deal breaker. And, if they have kids, shame on both of them. Him for beating up the kids mom and her if she doesn't leave him and allows this to keep happening with children in the house.

Should there be punishment for husbandbeating ?
The tables are turned in a lot of unheard cases, I
have known of several cases where the wife was
the abuser, not the husband (Police Files) this is
a very serious answer.

I think they should put him in a room naked and she gets a baseball bat and the cops heads are turned for 2 minutes. That is all it would take.
Seriously, I think there should be tougher penalites for not only wife abuse but spousal abuse all around. The problem that arises today though is even if we were to take this to congress and get the laws changed the overcrowding in the prisons is going to have them on the street in 1/4 the time they should have served anyway.

In Africa, sadly none; wife-beating is almost a culture. Another husband will most likely be no different. Beating takes place and tolerated by that wife who does not want divorce - more often because of her children. So beating goes unreported. What mother would want to escape beating only to leave behind children to be beaten by their step mother. In a society dominated by men, wife-beating becomes part of a marital life. It becomes worse if her parents intervene. What is needed is women empowerment which comes about with education.
Parents are more responsible for denying their daughters education. But the father too may be wife-beating and the daughter when married accepts the beating as part of married life. It is very sad.
If it were in the West, I would have said: chain him with his mother-in-law for one hour. In Africa, she would get more beating than her daughter - because of a large dowry she extracted from him.

I am sorry, but some women do be askin' for it! I don't think such is always the case, but you have some women who have a man who is TRYING to leave, yet calls and tries to start sh*t every time he tries to leave. EVERYONE has a boiling point.
HOWEVER, there are a lot of situations where a man will beat his woman for the sport of it-to control her, to demean her, etc. THOSE are the ones who should be punished. But it is so unfair to automatically assume that the man is the one totally at fault. I KNOW that some psychotic beeyotches like that sh*t. Negative attention is still attention, right?

someone needs to beat the heck out of them(best if it were a woman giving him back what he dished out).seriously the wife should be allowed to beat the living daylights out of him while the law watched on to protect her from being hit any further. then he should be sentenced to go to domestic violence classes for the rest of his days. i don't care if its a first offense. once a wife beater always a wife beater. my dad raised all his children to know a man isn't a man if he hits a woman. and thats the way my husband and i raise our children. all my brothers and sisters raise their kids that way as well. parents have an obligation to teach their children against domestic violence. people that practice violence on others have a superiorty complex. and likely low self-esteem. every child should be taught not to commit domestic violence, not just men i have known of women to do this to their husbands or boyfriends.

Wife should get 100% of everything you have in divorce. You should be put in jail. With a video playing 24 hours a day showing what you did to your wife.
Then the guards should go on break when you are in the Yard.
