Yes, the average human eats more than 12,000 spiders in their life time while they sleep. Most people sleep with their mouths open so they just crawl in because they like a warm damp place. They dont hurt you and they are extra protine so dont loose any sleep over it.

This question is asked about once a week. myth.
whenever you hear something that sound funny (why would a spider put its life in danger and approach your gaping mouth with its smells and drool and exhalations???) go to snopes to see if its been asked.
Snopes lists all common urban myths.

It is possible. When I was a child my mother was bit by a black widow on the inside of her throat. Apparently it went into her maouth and she tried to swallow it. Incedentally she spent the rest of the night in the hospital.

I would think it would be not just spiders but any crawling insect that happens to crawl over your face while you're asleep and you happen to open your mouth to breathe... plop! In goes the insect and then you close your mouth and the swallow reflex automatically swallows him ... or her.
