I need help understanding.... when people call people that are from Brazil or countries like that ''Afro-Brazlian'' is it ike the same thing saying ''African-American'' meaning they are Brazilian but have African Descent... it's so confusing.. Because I was reading about Hugo Chavez the President of Venezuela and he classifies himself as Afro-Venezuelan?

Yes, it's pretty much the same thing. But Hugo Chavez isn't black, he's just confused about his racial identity like you. It's really funny that you answer questions like you're black, but your avatar is a blonde White girl.

- I can't speak on Cuba but chances are it might be that way. Brazil is about 50% Afro-Brazilian but only 6% of the population is classified as black. In Brazil whites are at the top, mulattos in the middle, and blacks at the bottom. That is why Brazil is considering affirmative action programs

If you're from, say, Brazil. And you're of African descent, then you can (if you'd like) label yourself as Afro-Brazilian. What is so confusing about this concept?

Yes of course, Afro-Brazilians are actually more commonly reffered as "Afro-Americans" (American here meaning the continent, surprise). Sometimes simply as "blacks", of course.
Hugo Chávez obviously has a lot of black blood on him. Just look to him. I see him as a black. Why some people above dislike it?

Most cuban blacks are decendents of slaves from Africa. Afro are distingishing they are of African decent
