I drive a 2004 Sonata...have 40% life on the front brake pads and have replaced the rear pads recently... 27000 miles on the car

That is odd that the rear brakes would wear before the front ones. Are you sure that it is not the wear indicator making the squeak? You may want to check the front rotors for run out, they have gotten hot and are warped too.

good luck.

Disc brake can squeel and are perfectly ok.
that being said.
you can spend a bunch of money and:
put in special anti squeal shims
put on special ditto, caulking glue behind pads.
try different type of pads, there are a vast array of pads today.
some cut slots in pads, or tapered leading edge is beveled.
some brands squeal less than others.
there is no guaranteed of sucess the first time.
find a dealer to suck into, replace my pads and give me a no squeel guarantee. ( yah , right)

I have an old motorcycle that squeels and nothing cures it.
( and everyone else who has one too)

it is like a gitar string, pluck it and it sings.
try a quick tap of the brakes to stop the Bird.

works for me.

PS: be happy they are not sticking. ohhhhhoooooo
