No but the opportunity was there. Why have they hardly spent any money from the Ltd company, where does the interest go,what are they going to do with the rest. When I get answers to all these questions I'll be able to make a balanced judgement. After all the Ltd company isn't subject to the police enquiry why the coyness about revealing what they are doing with it?

Oh dear, this has been discussed to bits...
The McCanns could not set up a charity for the simple reason that a Charity has to benefit a cause / segment which in this case did not apply as it was to find their own Madeleine. Hence a company was set up.
The McCanns have repeatedly stated that once they know for sure that their Madeleine is no more they will donate the fund to a children's charity in her memory.

I wouldn't like to think it was premeditated, but it's certainly made them millionaires.
If they're not going to use it to search for Madeleine, they should do the decent thing and either donate it to a charity or refund the donations.
EDIT -
The McCanns can benefit from the money in the fund - it is all theirs - it's not a charity but a limited company.
With cleverly worded clauses if they do not find Madeleine, they can keep the money. If they find Madeleine, but the abductor isn't jailed, they can keep the money. In the meantime, the third clause covers all their expenses, so they can spend all the money to cover anything. The money is 100% theirs to do with as they please, all this screaming about accounts etc doesn't matter - it's not a charity.

the money is theirs to do whatever they feel necessary. although they should spend some of it to really search for madeleine rather than all the publicity stunts.

Delly..... This makes my stomach churn with anger at the thought of these two getting away scot free as millionaires all got off the back of their poor child. .These two neglecters must be brought to justice.

this money is donated by others to help them find their daughter. it is held in trust and is not for their personal use. it will be used for other families who suffer the same loss as the McCanns have. He cannot benefit personally in any way, and neither would he want to if he wants to keep his integrity.
