Yes. Too much salt water will kill you.

The salt concentration in saltwater is higher than in your cells. So when the saltwater gets into your bloodstream, it will suck out the water from your cells and cause them to die. (More accurately, the water in your cells, due to osmotic pressure, will be transported outside of the cells, but the term "suck out" is much more fun and violent-sounding.)

Saltwater poisoning causes brain damage, weakness, and digestive system damage. It also wreaks havoc on your kidneys.

The same things that make saltwater dangerous in high doses, though, make it an excellent disinfectant for your mouth. Gargling saltwater will damage or kill bacteria that live there.

No, not in small quantities, but if you were to swallow a lot of it then it certainly can be deadly.
It is deadly when you are stranded in the ocean and are dehydrated. People get so desperate for water that they decide to have a few sips of ocean water. Trouble is, the salt dehydrates you further, and the overall effect of this strain on your body can be death through dehydration alone, or hallucinations, which can cause you to harm yourself.
Think about it though, I'm sure you've all been swimming in the sea and swallowed a little sea water. In small doses under normal circumstances it's harmless.

It can be, if that's the only water you are drinking. The reason is that salt is very dehydrating to the body. Sea water has enough salt in it to actually counteract the water content. You can actually die of thirst while drinking sea water. The salt content is so high in sea water, that your kidneys can't process it like plain water. It overloads the system and your kidney function becomes abnormal. What happens is, your kidneys start working overtime and you produce more urine than liquid you drank. You end up getting more and more dehydrated, the more sea water you drink!

Of course, if you put some table salt in water, and drank it, you wouldn't die on the spot. But you can't drink highly salted water without any other liquids, this would overtax your system.

Salt water is not deadly, the difference between salt water and fresh water is that it has salt in it. If your stranded in the middle of the ocean and require water and drink salt water it makes you thirstier. This is because the salt makes you thirsty, if you can extract the salt from the water by possibly using a process called desalination the water would refresh you. Salt water can only make you more dehydrated but is does not directly kill you, it only dehydrates you which is what actually kills you.

Yes your kidneys can't process all that salt. But this is only when you drink it like you drink regular water. If you go to the beach and swallow water will not kill you . As a matter of fact Sea Salt and warm water is a natural laxative many people use it once amonth to clean their system. That's OK

It is not deadly but there is so much salt that it robs your body of water. It is not suitable to drink if you are thirsty and is worse than no water.

If you drink enough of it yes. There is acutally more salt in there than water (sounds strange right?) and we all know that too much salt is bad for us, but also if you were to drink it you would be come more dehydrated.

Yes. If you drink a fair amount of it, and don't drink fresh water, you will die within about 5 hours because it causes kidney failure because of the large amount of salt, the kidneys can't process it all.

Some of the effects of drinking it are about 3 or 4 hours into it you will start getting hallucinations and loose rational.
