I just got a new battery for my laptop and when i plug in the power cord it keeps going from Ac adapter to just running off the battery (at the bottom...the icon). i want it to run from the power cord, but it keeps saying its not plugged in and then it will be and then it wont be. This probably sounds really stupid and confusing....but i need to know if there is something i can do to make sure it runs off the power cord....any ideas or am i just stupid!?!?!?!

Your AC jack is damaged. You need to get it repaired. Hope it's under warranty.

It sounds like your power cord or your AC outlet may be bad. Try a different outlet and see if this helps. Note it is not a bad idea to have a UPS even for a laptop at home. If not then your cord may be bad or the sensor that sees the power cord is bad. Try a new power cord. If this does not work then it may be the sensor and require a PC repair person.

Many laptops have concepts for applying AC as an entire time skill source whilst the computing gadget is utilized in an place of work or under comparable situations so that's extra advantageous to apply skill from the mains as this would save the battery completely charged and able to circulate would desire to there be a skill blackout, or in case you're plannng on going to apply the computing gadget some place the place there is not any AC skill. in any different case, you will would desire to attend an hour or 2-- probable extra-- to recharge the battery.

you could have a couple problems...if the power cord worked properly with the old battery your power managment software might not be working properly with the new battery...or the issue may not have anything to do with the battery, you may have developed a short in the power cable for your ac adapter in which case it may be providing power intermittently causing your power managment software to switch randomly...you could see if wiggling the cord causes any changes in your display...if so, just determine what angle the cord needs to be on to work and find a way to hold it there.

Is your lead one on the L bend type ones ? If so, possibly a loose connection in there. Does it get worse if you wiggle it around?
