Hellooo, my choice is odd (surprise). In Ben Hur, the most effective portrayal of Jesus was someone whose face you never saw and whose voice you never heard. The scene where the shadow of the cross passes over Ben Hur's Mother and Sister (who have leprosy) is so moving. Then, in the rain and lightning they realise they are healed as the blood of Jesus runs into the mud and then the stream and on. If you are not moved by those scenes you must be made of stone. I blub everytime.

Much as I liked Alan Bates as the Man Who Might Be Jesus in Whistle Down the Wind, my best Savior was Robert Powell in Jesus of Nazareth. Though not nearly as scruffy as the historical Jesus very likely was, Powell played him with humanity, understanding and just the right touch of otherworldly knowledge. And, like Jesus, he was a fine teacher and story-teller, and showed Jesus as a friend, a companion, a Lord, a rabbi, a lion, a scourge and the Son of God.

James Caviezel hands down - growing up Catholic, I've seen every movie with a Jesus in it. Especially with him speaking in the native tounge. My other choice would be one not yet mentioned, Willem Defoe in "The Last Temptation of Christ"

comtron, Jesus wasn't portrayed in Evan Almighty, it was Morgan Freeman and he played God. So unless you're getting all theological with the father, son, and holy spirit being the same i have no idea what you are talking about.

I would have to say Jim played the best Jesus in Passion.
