So my computer mouse every once in a blue moon selects more than one icon. The only way I can get around this is to restart my system. I checked the properties of my mouse and everything is okay. What could be causing this? How do I stop it from happening?

Check to see that mouse trails is turned off. A dirty mouse button can also cause this. As you dbl/click an icon and then go to move the pointer away, the sticky button may have not released all the way and grabs the next nearest icon as well. Try "washing" the top side of the mouse with alcohol. Set it on a paper towel, pour some alc over it, work the buttons a bit and then wipe it off.

Most of the time it is due to either a CTRL or SHIFT key stuck on your keyboard.
