I'm doing a project for my AP Human Geography class, and I was wondering what your opinion on the book Fast Food Nation (Eric Schlosser) is.

And if you haven't read Fast Food Nation: what is your opinion on fast food?

I love it. I think if you watch your portion sizes and what you eat you will be ok. I eat fast food 7 days a week, mainly for dinner. But I usually eat a veggie sandwich from Subway, or a tostada from taco bell. Both of these choices aren't THAT bad for you even after the toppings.

I've been eating this way for 4 years and haven't gained weight.

Now, if you are eating hamburgers and fries everyday or more than once or twice a week... you are asking for trouble.

Haven't read the book, but do know my brother was a fast food junkie...would eat fast food probably 6 out of 7 days for breakfast, lunch and most dinners....he died at age 37 from hardening of the arteries caused by all the plaque buildup on his arteries; he was 5 ft 10 in and weighed about 165...nice build and strong muscles...you can't tell what's going on in the inside by the way you look on the outside all the time! Oh yea, he was also a runner...as in jogger...that sucks that I lost my only sibling to junk food!

I loved the book, and I thought it was very informative. A book I just finished reading that gave a lot of information too was "The Way We Eat" by Peter Singer, it gave information on food in general, not just fast food.

Good luck on your project!!!

Fast food is incredibly bad for you. BUT, I eat it about twice a month, and I'm healthy and not overweight. I think the key is moderation. If you eat fast food a lot, chances are you are going to unhealthy, sluggish, and overweight. It's very hard on your body. I only eat it twice a month usually, and I do really love Mcnuggets, I don't care what's in them! But I also constantly eat fresh fruit and veggies, and lots of lean meat and whole grains. I don't think it should be outlawed or anything crazy like that. The people that eat themselves to death on double doubles have no one to blame but themselves and their lack of self control, and shouldn't spoil it for the rest of us.

fast food is good if u dont overdo it. i use to eat fast food every other day and ballooned to 185 pounds (and im 5'5") but now i only eat it about once every two months sometimes not at all. although i miss it, i can certainly live without it! i too saw the wonders in cooking food myself and i found out that im a great cook!

Stopped eating fast food over six months ago. Finally got my taste buds back, and I can see my feet now. Also, discovered this stuff known as VEGETABLES. Cooking is a spiritual experience for my now, and my family is finally happy.
