Cooter Festival...in Florida no less...the capital of "snowbirds!"

Personally....I wouldn't care if they thought I were a redneck or not...the cost of living in the south is lower, there are so many beautiful sights where you don't have to deal with smog, crowds and skyscrapers, and they don't sign my paycheck!

Seems like a lot of northerners love to come south for vacation as well! They must love the relaxing lifestyle here afterall!

Best wishes!

I grew up in the north but many of my friends due to college and jobs have moved to Texas, Alabama, Virginia, and Florida. So my travels to see them have shown me that there are just as many sophisticated areas in the south as there are in the north. And we definitely have those in the north who have all the attributes of a redneck Anything with Jon Stewart is a insult since he lives for that and has no idea what the real inhabitants of an area are like due to his lifestyle with the rich and famous who put people like George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, and Michael Moore on a pedestal.

I've even heard of this duma#s stereotyping in the south. Some idiot in Alabama told my kid that people from Oklahoma are inbred idiots. Here we have ROUGHNECKS and rednecks. Some are both. BFD. Where's cooter at, I want to check it out too?

i think of of it extremely is complicated to discover the line between being uneducated and being xenophobic/racist. human beings forget with regard to the actuality that we've immigrants from in the time of, and unlawful immigrants come from in the time of. The media and society likes to concentration on Mexicans even in spite of the actuality that they don't consistently exchange into conscious of a Mexican or they mislabel persons as Mexican each and every and constantly. it extremely is an excuse to vent their racist hate; i understand a brilliant form of human beings who're in touch approximately Mexican immigrants, yet then they bothered to income suitable to the area on their very own. they are open-minded on the beginning up and did not hate. something refuse to be valuable, refuse to be knowledgeable. That tells me hate is their precedence and not fact.

Historically, televised reports of violence against civil rights activists in the '50s and '60s didn't help y'all very much. Secondly, you cannot discount the influence of "Hee Haw" on the national psyche. Finally, the "Blue Collar" boys (Foxworthy, Engvall, and the rest) have certainly been doing their part.

Don't get me wrong. Even in your so-called "blue states" (which used to be more appropriately red), once you go twenty miles outside of the city you'll find plenty of rednecks. I grew up in Eastern Washington and Southern Oregon, and I've been living with rednecks all my life. Hell, I'd be one if it didn't mess up my manicure.

Rednecks are all over! I'm from the North and believe me we have our share! In fact my husbands relatives are the biggest and I'm not exaggerating! I really like the South and would like to be living down there!

It's just a stereotype and it is as inaccurate as every other stereotype. Every Italian is not in the Mafia. Every black person is not a criminal. Every woman in a short skirt is not a prostitute. Every New Yorker is not rude. Every Californian is not stoned.

Stereotypes occur when people are too lazy or uninformed to take a longer look at something and just want to quickly write it off.
