No---the keeper is replaced, and the team must play with one less field player. If all the subs haven't been used, a keeper can come in off the bench, and a field player goes off. If all the subs have been used, a field player has to put on a keeper jersey and play in goal.

The goalie in question has to come off. There has to be someone in that teams goal. The team with the goalie getting the red card will then play short.

You actually aren't allowed to play without having one of your players designated as the keeper, so no. The team just has to play a man down if it is a straight red and not a double yellow and they have to designate someone else as the goalie (whether they choose to use their sub or not).

Playmaker is right.

This question has been asked before. I did a search on "goalie red card" on Y!A and found that's it's been asked at least 10 times within the past year.

that particular goalie is kicked out, but another can take his/her place after getting the referee's permission and putting on a distinguishing jersey.

No. A player is substituted and the bench goalkeeper comes on , or they move a outfield player in goal.
