Socialized or Singler payer systems are nothing more than a large government HMO. The only way to control costs is through managing access. This management of access is accomplished by delaying medically necessary services. Please see my review of the movie SICKO below:

Thank You Michael Moore

While Michael Moore does do one thing well with his recent box office release of SICKO - he brings attention to the American healthcare system.

However, he simply falls down with regards to how well the system works for the majority of Americans.

He also fails to mention the other side of socialized "single payer" medicine; in 2006 Britain's Department of Health reported that at any given time, nearly 900,000 Britons are waiting for admission to National Health Service hospitals, and shortages force the cancellation of more than 50,000 operations each year.

In Sweden, the wait for heart surgery can be as long as 25 weeks, and the average wait for hip replacement surgery is more than a year.

Canada is not immune to the issues either - in a March 2006 interview with Dr Brian Day, President of the Canadian Medical Association, he states "the Supreme Court stated that Canadians are suffering and dying on wait lists and that governments across the country have shown inertia in dealing with the plight of patients...... ....and they struck down the segments of the Quebec health law that outlawed private insurance for medically necessary services" so even Canada is looking toward private insurance as a solution to their issues.

Did any American realize that burried deep in the 1000's of legislative pages of the early 90's "Hillary Care" that it was made a criminal act to pay cash to a physician? Do we really want the government to have complete control of our health care?

There is a real problem with the uninsured in America, and as a Health Insurance Broker, I discuss with my clients how they as employers, myself as a broker and the health insurance carriers have a responsibility to get these people insured through innovative group and individual products.

We have a large pool of healthy Americans who are not insured, we need them to step up and become part of the solution.

In addition, we Americans need to take responsibility for our own health. A significant portion of medical claims are directly related to the American lifestyle (we as Americans have the resources to become fat and lazy). I feel that through employer sponsored wellness, consumerism and disease management programs we can continue down the road of a "healthy America". Result: a reduction of the large claims that have our healthcare spending spiraling out of control.

Bottom line; Thank you Michael Moore for focusing Americans attention on a real problem - HealthCare, maybe your next film should be on the "American Lifestyle Crisis" - perhaps called "Glutton for Punishment".

I am not a right winger. I have never voted for a republican. I am highly against abortion bans, gay marriage bans, and other right wing agendas.

I think Michael Moore is a despicable person and should be hanged for treason. F9/11 was a very deceptive movie, which used tricks like displaying very short video clips completely out of context for the sole purpose of generating hate toward the president of the United States. He obviously could not prove his point without misprepresenting the president and relying on fallacies and assumptions.

Perhaps many of the right wingers hate Michael Moore for some of the wrong reasons. That does not change the fact, however, that he put out a major motion picture for the purpose of turning his viewers against the president of the United States for illegitimate reasons. Had he not used deceptive means and instead decided to stick to the facts, perhaps his actions wouldn't be viewed as treason.

No, we dislike Michael Moore because he is a money grubbing elitist that distorts the truth to his advantage and it has been proven time after time!
Do you really think that he cares about any of the things he writes about or makes movies about..no, it's just the money!!
Michael Moore is a pathetic human being that prays on the fears of the average Joe ......all for the almighty dollar!!
He lives in a two million dollar home that he calls a "cabin"!
He also tried to fill in a wetland reserve to "improve" his beach but was denied by state government.
At an appearance at Michigan State University in late January, Moore took questions after his two-hour talk. A student asked if rumors about him building on a wetland Up North were true.
Silence....... "Don't know what you're talking about."
According to state records, Moore partially filled in a wetland to improve his beach. He quickly fixed the problem and wasn't fined.
Why deny it?
A pathological need to be right and a pathological liar to boot!!

Actually, as much as I dislike Michael Moore, Sicko was more of a documentary than the rest of his fictitious work.

I dislike Michael Moore because he makes stuff up! And it's not just against Republicans, he implicated that Bill Clinton intentionally dropped bombs to coincide with the Columbine shootings, because Columbine would be bigger news, and he got Marilyn Manson to agree with him. Do you think Marilyn Manson cares about politics? Do you think Clinton was waiting for a bigger news story than him giving the OK to drop bombs?

He is as out there as Limbaugh is and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take the bias glasses off and look again.

No. I hate him because he twists and misrepresents so blatantly to further his agenda. He isn't concerned with honest debate and he will slander or obscure the truth just to make a buck.

He is simply disingenious, a hypocrit, a self-loating american, and a disgrace. His entire career is a mockery of legitamacy and he is little more than a prostitute.

Michael Moore is fast-food for the information starved. Why bother with challenged research or first hand knowledge of the truth when one can inhale Moore's tripe and continue to lie to oneself about how the government is out to get us and that's why life sucks?

Sad.

Hmm Bowling for Columbine was proven to be filled with lies,
SIcko is a joke that no one with an IQ above room temperature takes seriously and F 9/11 was a predicable liberal hit piece. So tell us again how he's been vindicated ?

That's funny, since there are so many lies and half-truths and fiction in his movies they no longer qualify for "Documentary" category at the Academy Awards.

I don't care about his weight, nor do I hate him, but the fact remains that he is both a liar and a propagandist.
